Hey all...

I've been through 2 top hoses in 2 weeks. I suspect either a blocked thermostat or blocked radiator. After a drive (only 5-10 miles or so) the top hose would look very swollen, like a fat sausage.

any help would be massively appreciated.

thanks
reuben

Excess pressure should vent through the cap. If there is excess pressure, where is it coming from? Possibly time to run the car with the cap off to see what happens. I presume you did bleed the system after you fitted the new hose.

Cheers

when i released the radiator cap the swelling in the hose went down as the pressure was release through the reservoir.

bleed the system. hmmmmm. after attaching the new hose i ran the engine with the rad cap off until the level stopped dropping in the reservoir and stayed at the maximum marker. where are the proper bleed valves?

ok thanks. i'll try yet hanother hose with a new rad cap (and a proper bleed) - before i move onto new thermostat and new radiator. I guess that's the most cost effective way round.
