Hi all,

First post here. Just bought a Fiat Bravo 1.4SX N 1996. So far so good, and im quite happy. Also just got some nice TSW 17inch Alloys aswell. However, today my car was serviced. When driving home I noticed that the exhausr was 'blowing' and has obviously gone. I knew the exhaust was 'going' so I wasnt to bothered. Only thing is, my car has NO POWER at all now. In fist gear I get hardly any acceleration. Could this be linked to Spark Plug gaps, although I was aware that the gaps were not adjustable? Or would this lack of power be due to the exhaust. Anyone help? Thanks!

A blown exhaust can make the car really flat, I'd try North Eastern at Longlands for a price - they've always been good for me - unless you take the opportunity to go for a performance system now it's shot.

If you see my silver cinq with blue viper stripes about the town, gis a flash![8D]

Thanks for reply mate.

I think ive seen you car about toon!
So at longlands? On the roundabout near kwick fit?
How much would a performance exhaust set me back like?
Or any idea how much a standard replacement would cost?
I only think part of the exhaust has gone.....but yeah really flat performance. I just thought it may have been linked to the plugs, but as I said dont think there that adjustable.

Im driving a metallic turqoise Bravo, with 17inch TSW alloys. Looks nice actually. In town now @ work.

North Eastern - head towards Redcar on the trunk road from Longlands, then turn down to the right before you get to the first roundabout. Can't miss it. It depends which bit's gone as to how much it'll cost. Plus, you can play on their Dreamcast, read the papers and drink coffee while you're waiting!

I'd try somewhere like www.bravo-guide.co.uk for recommendations for sports exhausts, some can be cheap and uncomfortably noisy.

LOL!

Just took it to garage to get a quote for the cambelt, aux belt and cambelt tensioner. Whilst there mentioned the exhaust, the guy took one look at engine and said it was that one of my HT leads were not connected to a plug, so my engine was running on 3 plugs!

OOoooops. Neverless the guy connected the lead backup for me.

Spill the beans then... which garage do we have to avoid?

BTW, have heard good reports about Acorn garage in M'bro from 2 Cinq owners.

Arggghhhh!!!

Well took Car to Cleveland Auto Service in Boro. Was quotes around 150 todo the Tensioner and the Cambelt. Hmmm, put car thru its MOT whilst it was there as there was a month left.

Got a phone call 3 hours later @ work. My break lines had burst under MOT!!! Antoher 180 to fix plus labour!!!

I was gutted and suspicious. Everything seemed ok to me before it went into the garage. Oh well Car Running Purrfect now. Just crap fuel economy.
