My Croma 150 multijet has worn out the rear tyres in 17000mls. The front tyres are still the original at 25000mls. Fiat do not accept there is a problem even though I have seen other Cromas in Italy with more wear on the rear tyres than the front. Fiat have written to me and say that if you tow with the car, carry a load in the boot or rear seats the rear tyres will wear quicker. What an answer. The Croma is a two seater car, that is official. Anyone got the same problem?:bang:

I have a 2006 Croma Multijet 120 (21000) fronts have about 7000 left, rears 20000 having said that there is a lot of tyre for only 120bhp. Had no problems with the car at all. I got it from Motorpoint for £7800 with 14000 on clock in June a bargin methinks. Serviced at a licensed FIAT specialist, The labour worked out at £10/ hr cheaper than main dealer all engine software upgrades done.

Have you had the 'rear tow-in' recall carried out yet????

We too had to replace the rear tyres on our Croma 150 Multijet after about 17,000 miles- they were the orginal NCT5s but completely worn out across their entire width. Our dealer checked the car for the 'rear toe in" recall just after we had the new tyres on, but said this wasn't a reason for the wear. We replaced the front tyres at 23,000. Maybe its just how Croma 150's are...

Have a March '06 Croma with 18750mls all tyres now need changing, rear and front wearing evenly, has NCT5's on at mo, anyone recomend better wearing tyre ?

Recall should be carried out with a few thousend miles on clock otherwise how can tyre wear be guaged?

Thanks for your reply. The car is front wheel drive so the front tyres should wear out before the rears. Will you please phone Fiat on an international free phone number 00800 3428 0000.They say I am the only person to report the fault. They have paid for my replacement tyres. So the more that report the fault we MAY get an answer.

I was a little too brief in my answer- we only had the recall after we'd put the new tyres on and indeed our friendly dealer looked checked it after the few thousand miles had been added and the new instrument cluster was finally put in.

I did query the tyre wear with Fiat over the summer when trying to sort out another problem, but they didn't admit any problems they knew about with the Croma. We're still trying to sort out a problemwith Fiat about the seat belt buckle plastics cracking though to the metal- not good quality control.

Can you please explain to me what make and type are the NCT5 tyres. There is one theory that the OE tyres do not last as long as market tyres. I have a friend who changed the OE Goodyear rear tyres at 12000mls to Pirelli 6000 and then got 30000mls. I am trying to get as much info as I can on this none existant problem.

Hi everyone I have just joined the forum after having numerous problems with my Croma 06' its a U.K Reg although I am in Italy at the Moment and dealing with FIAT in Italy...
I have a 2.2 Petrol Auto.
I also had really bad wear on the rear tyres. I didn't even notice until it was poited out to me at a petrol station.
I called a Fiat Garage who also replaces tyres and was told to contact Fiat as there was a recall on the Cromas RECALL No. 5138 RearWheel Tow.
Fiat in Italy told me that this was due to the Tracking and Fiat would put that right.
The Tracking was done by Fiat yet I have had to pay out for not just two Tyres but 4 as the front tyres were also unevenly worn due to the Tracking being out.
Fiat have said it is not due to the tracking yet the garage that changed the tyres and corrected the tracking told me it is totally due to the Tracking.

I am glad to see that Granvilleb managed to get his tyres paid out.
Infact Fiat Italy have also paid out others, as I have been told by the Fiat Garage who advised me of the ReCall.

I am pushing for the cost of my tyres and I suggest that if you have experienced this problem heep on at Fiat as it is a fault with the car that they are aware of hence the Re-Call was put out.....

I have had many problems that I will let you in on later on. Bye for now ....

We've had to have a new instrument cluster fitted this autumn after the old one failed whilst on holiday in France and just after the second year of the warrenty expired- replaced by Fiat once the source of the problem was agreed. We're also having a new set of seat belts as the plastic hoods on the buckles have cracked all the way through to the metal. It may be cosmetic at the present but you don't expect this to happen on a two year old car... We also seem to go through clutch micro switches (controlling the hill holder/security functions) at the rate of one a year and have had a new boot lock.

Pity as the Croma has so many positives and is ideal for us with the space, the great diesel engine and the big sunroof.

A part from the clutch micro switches I have not had to change one yet mind you my car is 16 months old.
The boot lock went on mine and the sun roof lining and I had a look at the plastic hoods on the buckles of the seat belts, and yjey have cracked all the way through to the metal just as you have mentioned.

What more are we to find........

Hi All Very interesting posts. My 150 has the 18" wheels and tyres that had the Bridgestone Potenza fitted from new. Like others I had to replace both front and rears last May with 17K miles on the clock. I kept looking at the front tyres and not the back and when I ran my finger across the rear treads found they were smooth! On a front wheel drive car I have never had this before. I had Avon ZZ3 as replacements and they appear to be wearing a little better. Although not a great 'looker' very happy with the car overall which is just as well as thanks to unfair (considering the car is not that badly built is well kitted out and performs well enough) residual prices I will have to keep it until it reaches it's 3rd birthday in June 09. (Although I bought new I got £7k off the list). I had a Brink removable towbar fitted from new and tow a caravan and it performs very well. However, clocking no more than 2K miles towing, the rear tyre wear is still a concern. My local UK dealer is not that good, does anyone know if there is a UK recall concerning the rear wheel toe in?

Your experience is like mine. I also tow a caravan and the Croma is a very good tow car. Can I suggest you speak to Fiat on the number on my posting and see if they say they have heard of the problem.

The car had Bridgstone the usual fitted with the Croma I have now put on Goodyear Hp and done aprox 3000 Klm and they are wearing well infat less wear to rear than fron just as it should be.

tell me who did you speak to a Fiat U.K as I have been onto them about the tyres and they have said that i am the 1st they have heard of and that the wear in normal.
although i have had the tracking carried out by FIAT and the garage that did the trecking confirmed the wear was due to the tracking being out.

Let me know who you spoke to at FIAT so I can get on to them.
