Spoke to the dealer yesterday, and apparently despite the importers at Bristol denying responsibility for my dodgy paint, a Fiat aftersales guy confirmed that Bristol made a claim for paintwork to Fiat. The lying so*s, so someone will be inspecting the car soon (I hope). Thing is what do I do? The drivers side sill has been painted and is a crap job so will need redoing, however a front wing has some grey primer showing through, its not much but I notice it! Do I get the wing painted and run the risk of a mismatch? At least the dealer is pursuing it for me, which is good.

i think they should give you respray on the bits needed and something else as a good will gesture, if you sell it and people notice its been sprayed it might put them off and/or lower its value.

Not true re trade in values, my old Cinq had a lot of paintwork done and got exactly book price on trade in, no one noticed. My Micra had a new bumper fited and painted a shade too light, no one even looked at it and I got a good deal on it! As long as the respray looks good I will be happy, but I did tell them if it wasnt repaired to as new I would give it back, however under the sale of goods act I think too much time has passed now and in the eyes of the law I am deemed to have accepted the car. The dealer is being good about it and I am well happy with the car anyway, will wait and see.

End of the day, they havent given you what you asked for. Its faulty, they know about the problem, sit it out and Im sure it'll be sorted by them. At least they're being good about it, Fiat and good customer service dont usually go together.

You pay for a FIAT....you pay the price....

Did you expect a car from FIAT that has no problems? They'll fix your paint, then the door will fall off ;)

my brother bought a ford escort some years ago, and after about 3 months he noticed some overspray under the bonnet. when he complained to the garage they admitted a mechanic had dropped something on the bonnet and it had to be painted. after a lot of shouting he got a stereo upgrade and two free services.
IF YOU DONT ASK, YOU DONT GET.

This morning an inspector from Fiat had a look at the car, and he is to write a report, then it will be sorted! Hooray! However, when the salesman asked him why it had been repaired he said... wait for it... its irrelevant[:0], he was French so I can excuse him that!
BTW, I would rather own a terminally rusty Fiat than ANY Jap crap! Had a Micra for 10 months, more things broke and fell of that than all my Fiats together, so there!
