1st warm the engine by driving the car for about a mile to get it up to operating temperatuer. then switch the ignition of then apply the handbrake now jack up the front off the car then support it on axle stands, remove the oil filler cap from the top of the engine to allow the oil to drain more quickly. loosen the drain plug about half a turn. put the container in position and unscrew the plug by hand be careful not to drop it in the container. now u can remove the filter & screw the new filter on by hand. refittng the drain plug then take out the dipstick now fill the engine using the correct oil wait a minute for the oil to fall the sump then add more put the dipstick in & look & see if u need more on the level in between lower the upper marks on the dipstick. put the filler cap on and now start the engine and look for the oil light to go out. now switch it off and rechck the level on the dipstick add more if u need to.

The above guide is how it is done by a mechanic at a garage, most of it is good advice.
BUT, if you are doing it yourself do it properly.
1..... It takes more than a mile run to get the engine up to operating temprature, allow about 5 miles.
2..... Do not remove the filler cap completly, loosen it enough so air can get in but the hole is still covered so dirt will not get in.
3..... Leave the oil to drain from the sump and oil filter housing for as long as possible, this allows more of the old oil to drain out, do the other servicing on your car whilst it is draining.
4..... Always smear the seal of the new filter with clean engine oil before fitting! Not how the mood takes you.
Always check there are no oil leaks from the filter and sump plug with the engine running after everything is completed !

needs updating! oil filter codes and quantity of oil would be a nice extra ( i dunno how much oil i menta put in and cant be arsed to look for manual grr lol

make a whole new oil/filter guide just to add a few bits? imho the guides/faqs would be a LOT better if they where run wikipedia style

the author should seriously consider putting some punctuation and spacing in his guide. it reads as garbage at the moment. not very helpful content anyhow.

Ouch... the author will have done this for free out of the goodness of their own heart to be fair.....
Not to take sides or anything but you are true people on here should accept that the guide is good enough for people to understand.
i think somebody needs to take their username a touch more literally
perhaps even more so when you need to ask how to fill up the oil

Its a good guide but update it with the following.
Size of driver needed to undo sump plug.
What viscocity of oil (lots of old twaddle spoken about synthetics).
Amount of oil needed in the sump.
(I think its 3.2 litres in oil filter but I stand to be corrected).
Like I said,its a good guide and everyone should know how to change their oil.
Also,remember old oil is to be recycled at the council depot and not put down a drain.
Wear rubber gloves too,old oil can cause cancer.

I just finish changin my oil did not have to come here and see how to but i came across this post because i do need to find how to fix the headlights on my Seiciento did not pass Tuv,anyhow,you did a great free job in posting this if some of this people don't know about gloves get a hold of the nut before it falls in the oil like mine did ,i just put my hand in it and got it out please! cancer in my hands u getting cancer from everything including you pc as u read this...
and who needs to know how much oil/keep cheking the stick as you put oil.
4.5 liters on mine/ seiciento ahh yeah almost forgot someone before me tighten the oil pan bolt so hard it was almost imposible to remove:bang: had to get better tool from my mecanic and no problem.:slayer:
