replacement number plate, is it ok??

Somehow my original number plate got smashed, so i went to have one made up at Halfords.

I'm not sure what kind of quality to expect? Same as the original?

The halfords logo, is overlaid over another halfords logo. Also some other writing is overlaid.

There are also numerous bubbles in the black lettering, and also looks like some in the yellow section as well.

Put it simply, I think its a bit rubbish, but not sure if this is what i should expect or not? Your comments and votes would help me decide if im a picky idiot or have "the right" to get another one done

Cheers

Kristian

Defo take it back, and don't take no bull that they can't take it back because it has been 'custom made' coz that's what they'll say.

Those bubbles can only get worse over time.

Cool Re: replacement number plate, is it ok??

I make numberplates every day I'm in work at Halfrauds and I make sure they're perfect every time. There should be no bubbles and we don't get any overlaid writing as there's none on ours so I would go back and complain and have it re-done without a doubt

If they do fob you off say you have a mate that works at a different one and he said it's unacceptable and that they would take it back our store accepts any back that are like that and gets someone who's good at doing them, such as myself to re-do them. Sorry sound like I'm blowing my own trumpet!

And the police don't like bubbles either as it makes it hard for cameras to pick you up,,,,,,hang on, leave it as it is!!!!!!!!

Cool Re: replacement number plate, is it ok??

I would do it for you but in order to put it through our system you have to use a V5 document and photocard driving license.

If you're not happy try Motor World if there's one by you or your local Motor Factor should be able to do you one

Re: replacement number plate, is it ok??

It is curious for me that you can have number plates re-done, here if a plate gets damaged you have to change it

Re: replacement number plate, is it ok??

wow, thats extreme!

the government has cracked down on plates a bit not though. Your only "suposedly" able to get one from a licenced maker. You also have to provide a V5 (legal registration document) and a photo ID driving licence as listed above.

Of course there are ways around it, if you want to. I'm happy with a bog standard legal one though....just of good quality
