Somehow my original number plate got smashed, so i went to have one made up at Halfords.

I'm not sure what kind of quality to expect? Same as the original?

The halfords logo, is overlaid over another halfords logo. Also some other writing is overlaid.

There are also numerous bubbles in the black lettering, and also looks like some in the yellow section as well.

Put it simply, I think its a bit rubbish, but not sure if this is what i should expect or not? Your comments and votes would help me decide if im a picky idiot  or have "the right" to get another one done :)

Cheers (y)

I make numberplates every day I'm in work at Halfrauds and I make sure they're perfect every time. There should be no bubbles and we don't get any overlaid writing as there's none on ours so I would go back and complain and have it re-done without a doubt :chin:

If they do fob you off say you have a mate that works at a different one and he said it's unacceptable and that they would take it back :) our store accepts any back that are like that and gets someone who's good at doing them, such as myself to re-do them. Sorry sound like I'm blowing my own trumpet!

Cheers for all your help so far (y) looks like its no good. Hopefully I'll have no probs and another made up thats better quality :)

If they can't do one properly, I'll go somewhere else, or pay one of you guys to do it + delivery :D By the sounds of it I'll have a perfect one then :p :)

I would do it for you but in order to put it through our system you have to use a V5 document and photocard driving license.

If you're not happy try Motor World if there's one by you or your local Motor Factor should be able to do you one (y)

wow, thats extreme!

the government has cracked down on plates a bit not though. Your only "suposedly" able to get one from a licenced maker. You also have to provide a V5 (legal registration document) and a photo ID driving licence as listed above.

Of course there are ways around it, if you want to. I'm happy with a bog standard legal one though....just of good quality :)

Yes, here there aren't licenced makers while I undertand they do exist in UK. The only maker of official number plates here in Italy is "Motorizzazione Civile" (probably translates as "traffic authority"). There are makers of plates but they can only be used for shows, for example if you have a vintage car and want it with a plate like the ones of its time.
Official plates have a small Italian Republic logo printed on them: punzone5.jpg

any driving licence i make number plates aswell and that plate iz ****e defo 2 takin it bk

Well, I had another made up, and it was the same if not worse. They appologised and said there was nothing they could do and it was to do with the lubricant.

Had no problems getting a refund though, so now i need to get one made up somewhere else.

Could try a local motor factors, or there are a few online sites...any recommendations.

Only downside with internet it if its also crap, returns will be a pita. Dunno where local would actually have the skill though, and envisige more problems with a small local place if it wan't up too scratch.

Cheers,

Kristian

In order for it to be legal with the DVLA it has to be a photocard driving license or a bank statement and driving licence plus V5, V5B, V11... etc
