We all have to do it occasionally, seeka new job that is.

When doing this what do you find to be the hardest or most nerve racking part of the whole shebang?

Personally i fing the CV sectiont he worst.
Calling up, going for an interview or completing tests are fine.
But making that CV/covering letter with the 20 odd rewrites you do and trying to picture what they will see when they read it for me is nerve wracking.

sod that, going self employed and working for myself was the best thing i ever did.

Would love to do that, but not just yet.

What is it you do oldskool?

I went for interviews but until recently all the interviews i had been for were for jobs that I didn't really want just stuff I was most qualified for on paper but my heart wasn't really in it.

the only scary part when getting a new job is actually doing the job. If you do a crap CV or do badly in an interview it doesnt matter, you'll never see the people involved ever again. There's always next time. But when you actually get the job and they expect a lot of you- thats when the stress starts. The applicaiton and interview stages are the easy parts.

I started a new job only 4 weeks ago. i'm now a business analyst for the rettig group. i'm responsible for group menbers in gateshead, birtley, hull, bolton and telford (such as myson and vogel&noot). I have to analyse and improve their processes and make preparations for Baan6 rollout (an ERP system). i was in telford at vogel&noot this week (in a horrible passat TDi company car :yuck: ) so far so good, but getting the job is definately the easiest part. doing the job is when the real test comes

thats everyone mate. you do it for the cash. if you liked it they wouldn't pay you.

i can honestly say the interview part  although the interview i had yesterday was my first proper one and was scary.

it lasted around 2 1/2 hours and the first bit was ok but the second bit was the one to one interview and the question they asked were actually quite difficult to answer becasue i had no clue what to expect :( but hopefully i did ok and have only 3-5 working days to wait

im an interview person aswell. its all the pressure of feeling like you have to be right on songfrom the word go that does it for me

thankfully ive only had the one interview and thats got me where i am so far, didnt need an interview for this job as my boss and i moved straight over from our old job and started the company (well uk office, company in its own right) and all my job before that were meanial jobs so didnt really need anything for them, just got on

Without doubt the interview. Knocking up a CV takes minutes on a PC, a phonecall is no problem, especially as you'll only be speaking to a secretary. But to walk into a room with up to five people that quiz every aspect of your career, your previous jobs, successes/failings and so on is very nerve wracking.

How negative! I enjoy my job, and I get paid for it!
As for the worst part of getting it, I don't know, as I was poached for it. :)

I don't mind the cv part for the job because for my thats easy, i just read over my job spec and add it to my cv. I don't like the interview because we can get asked some really hard questions that have lots for different answers and you never know what they are after.

I'm enjoying my new job but it's hard having to get to know new people again and what that person is like e.g can you trust them, are there the peeople who like to look busy but do nothing....etc

Erm, i dont know  I wasnt bothered at any point during the whole interview thing, first interview i went to, i got the job and was asked to start asap and ive been there hmm, 5 weeks now :p Love the people there, if it wasnt for that and the fact their paying my way through college and uni then i would've left by now as i could easily make the money i do working on my own stuff, but i think having qualifications behind me is a good thing ;) i actually enjoyed the whole process of getting the job :) SO... saying that im not very experienced in interviews :(

have to agree again, its defiently the interview part for me aswell - the one on one bit is sp nerv racking! Getting so many questions fired at you and then after thinking oh i could have said this, i should have said that

But i luv my job as its what i spent years at college, etc training for, but then they exploit younger members of public without experience and pay you sh*t wages! and then even when youve been in the job for years the pay dosen't get much beta as they'll just replace you with a another graduate as the job is so over perscribed compared to jobs avaliable in the uk! Dam working in live television broadcast :D

How very true :( I also agree that starting the job is the worst, especially when it's the first few weeks and you miss your old job and friends so much and feel totally lost.

...I,m so dunkkkk
