What model Punto have you got?

I would always suggest 16s on the Punto purely for performance and handling reasons, my ex had 17s on her GT and to be completely honest it didnt handle like a GT should.

16s and lowered approx 40mm with a decent suspension set-up will leave the car not only looking low and mean but also make the handling perfect imo

could i get a lower drop than 40mm or is tht just daft lol  and wot offset tyre wud be best to have nebody know?? lol

I see your driving a 55s so I would go with Dave's suggestion of 15s mate. Anything bigger will seriously screw up your acceleration and tbh although nippy the small engined Puntos dont have much performance.

You could go for a 60mm drop if you wanted to but if you do then please please please go for uprated shocks to match and not just the springs otherwise you and your wallet will regret it ;)

will do m8 15s and 60mm sound gud? wot bout ne performance mods any one know ov ne but keepin the same engine lol

Or 14's, as both these were standard size wheels for the Punto mk1. 15's at a push, but any bigger and you'll get no benefit at all, and as Si-Punto said you'll screw up your acceleration and have a mis-reading speedo.

Plus your car will look like it's a 4x4 unless you drop the suspension, and then you'll have rock hard springs with no suspension travel and low profile tyres with no natural give. Great fun if you want your car to bounce all over the road rather than grip it, and even better for shaking your fillings out ;)

BIG WHEELS DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEAN BETTER! If your car wasn't designed to take wheels that size in the first place you'll be far better off sticking to smaller wheels.

Leave the big wheels to the 'bling' crowd and the Pimps :p

dont get 17s

you will eat gearboxes and wear arms quickly.

im on my 2nd punto and am having 16s

they fill the arch perfectly:cool:

Firstly decide what you want out of the wheels, if pure style then 17"s are my reccomendation, but if you want to retain some aspect if performance go for some 16"s (OZ alloys are very light weight).

However it also depends if you want a low car or wheels to fill the arches.

Personally i prefer 16"s as they are a good compromise on style and performance , as 17"s on a mk1 wont just go straight on (beleive me i did the same), when i lowered it -35 mm on pi suspensin kit it rubbed, full lock was non existent, can knacker up wheel bearings, you need to trim the front and rear arcg aswell as removing the arch lining, and if your very unlucky you may need the arches rolling!

Hope this helps!

Cheers

Anthony
