every Seat car i look at convinces me that they're trying to be less spanish and more italian. the Leon bears more than a passing resemblance to the Brava, the rear end of the new Cordoba could've been stolen from an Afla 156, the old Cordoba was a dead ringer for the Alfa 146. or is it just me that thinks it?

that's true, but so did the polish, and the russians

Hehe little know fact, but the latest Ibiza was designed by the talent behind the 146, so yes, you're right :) BTW you can tell this just by looking at the ibiza's rear light clusters!

Had a Cinq, bought a new Clio, so now I don't have a Cinq.

Now Seat is under Volkswagen...

Ibiza/Cordoba are similar to 147/156 because Walter De Silva the designer who designed them some years ago worked for Alfa Romeo... now works for VAG...

I personally think the Leon looks more like a MKII astra than anything else. In any case the cross pollination of vehicles/parts is common to all manufacturers these days. Fear and risk rank highly nowadays as product development criteria, leading to staid lifeless designs.:)
