Cinq fuel gauge is meant to do that, it doubles as a G force meter when cornering.

nowt wrong with them. the go up/down with cornering but as soon as you hit a straight they read completely true.... dont get what the fuss is about.

swap it with a 16v pump and it stops doing it :-)

I didnt vote as I have a mk2 but seem to have the same issue as you guys, as soon as the gauge gets below or hits the 1/4 tank mark the light comes on. not sure why it comes on so early but it does frustrate me!
Also I have a massive van for work which takes about 98 to fill and its really boring standing at the pump for that long so try to fill up as little as possible by driving like a Nana!

Re: mk1 cinquecento and punto owners only, do you trust your fuel gauge??

The biggest problem I've noticed recently is people can't afford to fill up and put 20 in here and there. Eighteen month to two years ago that 20 would have got you between two hundred and two hundred and fifty miles, now you'll be lucky to get one hundred and seventy five miles on 20 worth of petrol.

To give you a perspective when I first started driving my first car was an 1988 Panda Bianca that cost 26.80 to fill from running out on the forecourt. I haven't ran out in the Fantasia as yet but it cost me 43.00 to fill the car from empty the other day.

some people with average sized cars would be lucky to get 100 miles to 20 worth of fuel
