Cool Air horn, Opinions ?

I've been thinking for a while to install air horns in my car =)

I loved the sound of those horns, reminds me of Ferraris ;-)

Should I go for it or stick with my standard horn ?

Re: Air horn, Opinions ?

Why not? It's fun for a while.
funnily enough, I was talking about this subject earlier with a colleague.
My first install was a klaxon off an alarm system. Initially installed under the bonnet but later high under the dash as part of an alarm - after a few seconds- serious headache, after a few more seconds - ear bleed

I went on to buy a 'wolf whistle' from a well-known northern motor factor. This had to be tapped into the manifold in order to work.
Then finally, I installed a pair of train horns under the bonnet - by god were they powerful (especially as the engine compartment served to echo and amplify).

Never did like the cheapo musical jobbies - dukes of hazzard, colonel bogey or la cucaracha seemed to be the only tunes available.
I heard that the musical ones were supposedly banned - something about performing rights?

I heard that the air horns overload the standard horn wiring . Did you modify anything first?

I did a favour for a mate, helped him with a house move. The old occupants left loads of carp behind - the horns being just one of the tasty items I 'bagseyed'
cost me a fortune buying a suitable compressor though - although this was in the days when every side street motor factor sold an assortment of musical air horns as well as just about everything else we take for granted on cars these days (small aeriels, auto windows, rear screen heater, rev counter etc etc)

Hi sorry about slow reply, yes i changed it.

i Un plugged my horn and got the live, i ran the live to my battery box where i put a replay nicely out the way. with the original horn live into the switch part of relay, hooked a fused live from the bat into the relat and put that too my new horns. i earthed the horns into the chassis rail where i bolted them beside my engine. i will egt some pics if you need

Re: Air horn, Opinions ?

Yes, fit them as I had a set of Klaxon 12v period horn with chrome trumpet on my last car. My Panda 100HP has a set of "Bull" horns as the standard one is so rubbish.
