That'll be a plague then.

could put the pay up so you get more than on the dole? would save on the health care as the people on the dole already using that with out paying stamp
Or put the dole and other benefits down. On the other hand, child benefit could be limited to only two children.

Can you give me an example of a menial job please? Part of the problem must be down to the employer. They want cheap convenient labour and illegal immigrants can provide that by undercutting minimum wage. The dodgy employer will also not be paying NI tax plus they can hire and fire staff on a whim no redundancy pay or unfair dismissal problems for the employer in this case im sure.
My parents went to Ireland a couple of years ago and one thing that was lacking was Irish people. The hotels they stayed in and virtually every pub and restaurant they visited was staffed by Poles. Now, however, the Celtic Tiger is licking its wounds and the "natives" seem to want there old jobs back. Personally I think we could do a lot worse than having Poles as immigrants in the UK, because their moral standards are close to those that some of us want, they are generally quite a religious and moral group and they want to work.

Personally, I think one of the main problems we have in this country is too much sympathy for "Cultural Differences". When we have to deal with nine people in a Toyota Previa or similar, there is a temptation to say: "Oh well, they just don't understand our rules," or "this sort of thing is common practice in their country." This is patently a stupid stance to take as anyone who has lived in this country more than a year must take a British driving test within that time, so if they have a licence, they know what the rules are. If anyone remembers the group of Muslim protestors from a London mosque who stood in the street and called for "Death to the Jews", and "Death to the Infidels", should have been prosecuted for a racially agravated offence; but, as far as I know, weren't. By comparison, I know of a young man who had a complaint made against him for racially abusing an Asian man. The complaint was not made by the victim, but by another man who heard the alleged comments. The young man has been charged.

Two situations I know of in Police circles that emphasise how this kind of thing has got out of hand are:

In a Police canteen (that dates it a bit) a white Officer and his black colleague had eaten their food when the white Cop went to the counter and shouted back to his partner: "Do you want some fruit?" The answer was "yes." White Cop then threw a banana to black Cop. A 3rd party reported this as a Racist Incident and an enquiry was launched. It was dropped when it turned out that the two had been at school together, from Primary School to taking their GCSEs, followed by a stint in the same Regiment of the Army and then joined the Police together. It also turned out that one had married the other's sister and that the brother had been the best man.

In another, a Police Officer from Northern England was on a residential course at the Hendon training centre when, queueing up for breakfast realised that the canteen had run out of bacon. However, the black canteen assistant said he would see if there was any left in the freezers and came back with a couple of rashers. "Thanks," replied PC Norhern, "you're a good egg." A third party (again) made a complaint about a racist incident, the central thrust of which was that the word "Egg" can mean something similar to "Bubble" in rhyming slang. Bubble and Squeak = Greek; Egg and Spoon = well, you work it out. Again the allegation was withdrawn.

Labour!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ah, Peter Mandelson, there you are. Not enough photo opportunities for you today then? Oh no, actually you can't be Mandelson, he would use the name Machiavelli.

By the way, whatever happened to the "New" part of New Labour.
