Been considering it for a while, dont need diesel anymore.

So the trusty reliable MJet will be going late this year or early next year, but what to replace it with?

Dont want a Mini, small is good, warm or hot hatch but must be economical & not in a high Road Fund Band, and Petrol without a turbo!

Plus I want to try a different make...

Fiesta ST

Yaris 1.8 SR

Civic Sport

Astra

Other (what?)

Yaris lol.

Fiesta, tooo common in any form

Astra, we'll its Vauxhall and they haven't made cars with any decent build quality in the last 9 years

Honda Civic, I like the looks of, but alot of owners say alot of design faults that are niggly. At night dash reflects badly off of screen for instance (dodgy head-up display!? :p).

Yaris will hold its value, Good build quality, and will last forever. Toyota have had alot of bad press in the last month, but they've been very honest about every issue, unlike some other manufactures when doing re-calls.

Jon.

Yup almost exactly my thoughts Jon, for £8k I can get an SR with 6 - 8k miles on it in a gunmetal grey... looks great in the metal. And lets face it all cars have "issues" (except my GPS of course) its just that the GPS will have 70k miles on it by the end of 2010 & it really has been... still is a brill car!

Hard act to follow TBH!

Is it the SR Yaris with the rear LED tail/brake lights?

Mum's had a Yaris from new now, 120k on the clock in just under 9 years. Its had a few problem, but all due to us/me

Rear light unit leaked and flooded spare wheel well recently and soaked carpets, but because after fitting parking sensors I didn't replace rear lense properly  resulting in the leak. And it ran low on oil (lack of maintenance ), but engine is still running strong! Not many can say that after letting the oil run as low as we did :p

I test drove a 57 plate T-Sprit Yaris with the tiptronic gearbox. Lovly bit of kit, was keyless entry and start and everything :)

One day I might have one :p

Too much dosh dave, although very cool looking! I considered a Swift Sport too but pants economy. Looked at the C30 Volvo but they seem to have bad reviews... "flawed design" was quoted...

Dunno about the rear cluster Jon, it will be a 57 or 08 plate by purchase time, only thing that niggles me is the instrument binnacle in the middle... a cynical "World Car" ploy if ever there was one!

No, they not like french cars where they use the same dash in all their cars :p

They've different dashes due to angle of the dome from LHD to RHD :p

best get a fiat then, get more car for the money on that budget:D

Been there, read the books, got the T-shirt AND the Stickers dave...:p

I will say though for anyone who reads this...

MY FIAT HAS BEEN GREAT, VERY RELIABLE, ECONOMICAL AND VERY PRETTY!

Yea I shouted it out lol!

New Polo? I think they are far far better looking than the Golf. Or Mazda 2

 Focus is wrong sector for me Fenton, insurance group would far higher & economy wouldnt come close. I see my Poll attracted just 1 vote... 100% in favour of my choice... (y)

Personally the ST, think they are lovely (looking) cars. Have never drove one so unsure able the drive.

Edit: As above, the twingo is wicked!
