Re: CB antena mount

sounds good to me! well ive got all my mates into centos. so we now sometimes go for drives around the twistys.
like you say will help loads when some get lost and also help make over taking safer once one gets in front and say when the road is clear/safe

Re: CB antena mount

Yeah, also helps being able to see car in car park, I'm thinking of getting a yellow or White mast so it stands out, although black that I've got it good as it doesn't draw to much attention.

I do get people looking then at lights etc though, its really funny. They look at car and then up and up and up lol

Re: CB antena mount

The Rallycinq has a short aerial with large base load, the LR a five foot centre load on a quick release.

Both are mounted through holes in the roof.

Yup the RC looks like an 'rc' car.

Cheers

Well funny enough Craig, the 2nd Red Sisley (J-reg one that I brought, fixed and sold most recently), had CB arial mounts on the rear boot hatch, and front bullbar and all wiring in place, would have just needed Radio and arial attached and would have worked well.

Don't seem to get any interference as such, just have to fiddle with the auto squeltch as if in convoy and you loose someone, my radio seems to play up, but had a passenger who knew what they were doing who played about and got it going

Re: CB antena mount

CB radio - happy days.
I never had much luck with mag mounts, then again, my bullwhip probably was too heavy for the huge magnet.
Then fixed it to a trunk mount & it mangled the side of the tailgate so ended up putting a ladder bar on the roof & bolting the base through the bar, made a fantastic ground plane as well. Used to run mobile with a superstar 360 & K40 power mic & a cheeky litle 500w burner for annoying the kids.
Still got the bullwhip in the garage and somewhere at the bottom of the junk is my old, original Krako 80ch AM rig. Was thinking about setting it up a while back (when I came across it whilst looking for something else) but I'd have needed a mount & co-ax & I really couldn't be rrrrsed.
Was really fantastic in its day though, especially for getting directions in strange towns.

Anyone from Toffeetown remember the Rourke's drift discos on Friday nights

Re: CB antena mount

I don't like mag mounts. Not since the Stilo threw one off at 110

Re: CB antena mount

Hi all,

I have read this topic and i am glad to see that their are Fiat drivers that are also CB'ers !

Unfortunately in my 2008 Bravo Sport MJT I am experiencing interferences coming from the injection system... I had the same problem in my previous car, a 2003 Stilo JTD 115....

My radio is an Albrecht AE485, i have put a line filter in the radio's power cord, this only removed the alternator. The interference from the injection system is coming through antenna...
I connected a spectrum analyzer to the antenna and i can clearly see a pulsing signal ranging from 24 to 30MHz.... Here is a small video i made : YouTube- Fiat Bravo engine generating QRM on 12,11 and 10m
The built in NB/ANL filters of the radio almost succeed in suppressing the interference, yet weak signal are not workable while engine is on...

Did someone experience the same problem and solved it ?

Thanks for reading !

Re: CB antena mount

Touch wood in my Stilo (1.4 16V Petrol/LPG, which is also running a sequential LPG injection set-up), I've not suffered myself, although for some reason my friends 2002 Fiesta has interference from MY Stilos engine when he's fiddling with his squelch, and he's the same base unit as mine. Strange lol.

Re: CB antena mount

if you get a mag mount get the large large one. shouldn't have any scratching issues. blokey in second post must of had the piddly little mag mount. look at my gallery, 4x4 with roof mounted mag mount. never moved a mm even through bushes/trees.!! says it all really. right equipment for the job!!

however in your case get a mount on that roof bar with a quick release, 3-5 on ebay.

central as poss on roof for best signal, and make sure you get an swr meter or borrow one, cause if you get to much reflection from the twig being badly swr'd it'll blow the output circuits of your rig and seriously hinder any transmision or receiving capabilitys.

dad had cb since 81 and played with them since so know me stuff.

you can get filters for that, you need to put inline filters on electrical parts, like you would for older radios in older cars, remember , you could hear a whine go up in pitch with revs. LOL, oh the good ol days.
