You need Java installed, unless you are using a 3rd party IRC client.

Managed to access it in IE and an IRC client, wish I had read all of the intro page first though, then I wouldn't have bothered downloading the IRC client.
IRC crashes on my comp if i have msn on at the same time

It's empty now, but then it is 1:40a.m. I also just found out that having registered my nickname using the client, I can no longer log in through my browser using that nickname. Who designed this, I just want to enter using my nickname and password from the webpage and I want the same fundtionality as the client, with the ability to create rooms, etc. Perhaps it would get more use if it was any good.
