lol i'd rather get recaro seats or something and do some modding in the punto rather then own & service the Break Mans Wallet to be honest!:D

Took the punto out for a drive yesterday in the brecon beacons, found the most amazing road in the world A4059, its on the topgear/tomtom best routes.
Just wished i had a rear wheeled drive car, it was good but too much body roll and not enough feel through the steering wheel and i needed a bit more power so really did wish i had the bmw then.
But im not going to be silly at get the bmw at the moment, just wait till i actually have enough cash to run it.

If you own a fiat, you should by default look away from the mainstream

Get a lexus or a Merc. (always see old people driving mercs, nice to see an younger person in one)

My dad owns a Merc now, and to be honest they are too soft for me. Really like some of them but i've always been a BMW fan and always will be so even if they are mainstream when i get mine it will be made totally unique (y)

Never a good look for a bimmer...most either look like a car designed to deal drugs or like it was coated in glue and crashed into halfords...

There is the odd one that manages to walk the tight rope and be a tasteful job but never seen one on the roads only in mags and last one was in the netherlands..

I don't mean making it look stupid... all i would do is M3 alloys if it doesnt already have them... and performance mods... remap/induction/exhuast system. Im looking at one like the pic in my first post so they already look fab.(y)

there's a lot more costs, work out how much just the tyres will cost. other service items are going to cost significantly more than a punto, plus fuel and insurance/tax. on the otherhand having a car which is better even if it's a bmw does feel good, but is it worth it?

Keep the fiat, be different. Bet theres more 320's on the road than fiat's these days.

If your after a bimma to show off, check out this baby

535i, limited slip diff, £300, and will sit in complete luxury at 155mph, even with a 1980's carphone, style...

Flatmate bought it to do ultimate street car at santa pod/drifting, its now covered in vinyl flags etc, you wouldnt believe how often we get pulled.

Show off your new BMW in style

My mate wants to do the same, but be a cheap skate and get a 94 M reg 3 series, I just looked at him and went a 54 punto for that? and he then went on for half an hour about how cool he would look. (when he isn't stuck on the hardshoulder) lol

If its a close call, keep the punto and save your money.

However, if you feel you really need the bigger car, the bmw would be a fine choice imo, however id be tempted to leave it for now

I would be tempted to go even further and get the BMW converted to a nice shiney Alpina!;)

I would say the same :) If you want a BMW, at least take something that's worth it!

Agreed with some of the guys on here, due to mileage you do etc, perhaps get a remapped stilo.

I believe BMW's are boring cars, all look the same and they never try anything different.

well, though i love bimmers and i really hate being racist about bmw drivers( as i've seen stupid people driving any make of cars) i'd agree with the rest and say keep the punto. You don't need a 320. I travel in my MK2 sporting a 450 km distance and back once a month and its fine..Also , what's been said about the sport BMW suspension is quite true. It's gonna be far from bed-like comfortable.Off course it's more stable than the punto , much better ride quality etc but if you don't go over 130 km/h , punto is pretty good! And since you've got the nice sporting seats , you souldn't complain about comfort! Also, as a university student(I am too) , i believe it'll be very hard to maintain the BMW. More fuel , way more expensive services etc . So , keep the Punto mate!
