I think it would save hassle in the future if it was main dealer service, although you should in theory be able to have it 'competantly' serviced anywhere. Fiat seem picky on warranty claims from other posts here.
Just had my 4x4 done, about £145.00. Tip from Stuart which I repeat here, ask them to grease the sump plate bolts before they put them back in, and make sure they reset the dashboard service indicator. Check before you drive off.
