this man makes a great point...

...about a great car http://www.topgear.com/blogs/planett...grip-big-grin/

.... my feelings absolutely. I had so much fun hooning that 1.2 dynamic round scotland... i keep trying to explain to my subaru owning friend that stats, and horses, and all that technology, dont really mean a great deal. Its the experience and the fun that counts and you dont need 257bhp and 0-60 in 4.57 secs - up by 0.06 secs on the previous 9 evolutions of your japanese whatever - to have a laugh. Viva le skinny tires and no grip.

anyone agree?

yep, me! many modern cars that go fast are just plain boring on the roads of the UK, with the Panda however thats not true! you should however, try a real Panda for even more fun!

Re: this man makes a great point...

I agree! I think there is loads of fun to be had in lower powered, lower grip cars. Just the sheer simple joy of driving. I've driven some powerful modern diesels as hire or lease cars at work, but after the two-dimensional novelty of that sudden torque rush has worn off (after about an hour) I've been more than happy to hand back the keys.

The only thing I would say is for all the fun I had in my Metro and Marina I think I remember them with a rosy tint. Really, they were horribly time-consuming things to own, requiring constant attention; I don't think I ever had a weekend when the spanners weren't out! Modern little cars are immeasurably better than that thank goodness.

Some people though just don't get it, and if they don't, that's their loss.

I regulally drive a Mercedes C class, A Focus sport, and some 06 Megane complicated thing. They are all powerful cars, with huge torque and turbo lag included. It's refreshing to jump back into the Panda for a real drive, these new cars have just lost touch.
