Hi guys,

Currently looking at buying a 55 plate Multijet or 4x4 oir quite possibly one of the sub £5000 1.2's on auto trader at the moment.

I am most interested though in the 1.3 Multijet, but I have been hearing talk of the 90bhp Euro spec version. Can anyone tell me what the differences are?

Is it purely mapping or is it turbo's and intercoolers etc?

I'm looking to replace my trusty renault clio (75bhp) with a car that is capable of cruising at 80ish (on my private test track) whilst giving good economy and lots of low down power - idealy coming in at around 2500-3500 due to doing lots of motorway driving. I fell in love with the panda before I bought the clio, now really wish i'd gone with my gut rather than my head!

ARC- if you are watching.... now't about decats please! lol.

Your extra 20 bhp comes from the differant turbo type, the 90 is fitted with a variable geometric type turbo, the 75 bhp is fitted with a super charger and the 70 bhp is your bog standard turbo. Plus the 90 is usually married to the 6 speed box.

I have to correct you on the 75 bhp model, it's not a supercharger but a turbo (just like the 70bhp).
Unless every Fiat site has the wrong information. (y)

Sorry if i've given the wrong info on the 75bhp.....blame Fiat, cos i've got the new brochure for the Grande Punto on the table beside me, and it states 75bhp SUPERCHARGED.
I dont think there would be much between the engines spec wise, maybe feul pump, injectors as well as the Turbo.
I read an article some time back about the Panda Rally, it was using the multijet, and was kicking out 102 bhp.

That's ok. (y)
Sometimes the info Fiat puts in it's brochures are, well, not quite accurate. But your are right, it probably won't make much difference if it has a turbo or supercharger (though i haven't heard of a diesel with supercharger instead of turbo).
I think the Panda Rally you read about could be the PanDakar (used in the Dakar rally), it had 105hp from the multijet. :D
