Took the plunge and got the wife a 05 4x4 on Thursday. We both love it! However a noise has developed(may have already been there) at the back seat of the car, drivers side parcel shelf area. Removed parcel shelf and no difference was observed. Seems to be coming from the inside the panel at the rear seat belt. I noticed a comment before about something similar....any ideas?
Thanks
Peter

It could be two things...
  • Seatbelt - Can sometimes bang on plastic surface. Try using the seatbelt holders (the small plastic clip thing).
  • Lock on folding seats - Check to see if the rear seats are locked properly. Usually needs a good slam :p

Hope this helps

Lock on folding seats

this is the problem area and unfortunately it's not solved even if you "slam" the seats to lock
It has to do with the lock mechanism itself

whenever I have the cargo boot fully packed with luggage (that means that there is pressure to the back side of the seat and to the lock mechanism) there is no rattle.

Hi, I mentioned a rear seat rattle a while ago, i had it looked at by a tenacious mechanic who would'nt admit defeat until he had found it!! "it" was a metal stay behind the offside rear seat metal panel it had come loose, problem now solved no more rattle!,however the powered handle on the hatch has just had to be replaced under warranty, my car is 54 reg.are these early build quality issues? hope this helps.:bang:

the seat belts are a pain in the ass if they're not kept away from the plastic, didn't take me too long to get annoyed with that

Easily solved by laying the belt across the seat bolster.
