over the last week there has been an intermittant issue with the rear hatch not unlocking off the key fob remote, or opening off the third button either. booked into to glyn hopkins (see garage thread) who are ordering a new part for the lock on teh car, seems as though somethings gone off, but thankfully all covered under 3rd year warranty..

Funny you should mention that. My first Panda (Dynamic SkyDome - fantastic car) had the same problem. In fact, the mechanism just stopped working completely one day and it could only be opened with the key in the lock. The Fiat dealer practically accused me of making it up when I said that I had previously been able to open it with the fob for the last two years! They assured me that there was not a problem with the lock and there was nothing they could do! Talk about frustrating!! As a matter of pride and principle I even wrote to Fiat but that was a complete waste of time...

Good thing you've got a helpful dealer!!

the very odd thing is when i went to a dealer near me, they wanted a non refundable £50 "inspection fee" that would be charged regardless of wether a fault could be found or not. needless to say the cost of driving to a far more accomodating dealer was well under that.......

My rear hatch, all of a sudden, does not unlock with all the other doors when I use the remote. However, once I get it open it is difficult then to get it to lock. A trip to the dealer is called for, hope they don't mess me around but just get on and fix it.

hi,

my panda's hatch is very temperamental. It opens when you close any of the passenger doors or go over any kind of speed bump. It has even opened for no reason just as I was driving along :( Admittedly I've not lost luggage or shopping or anything else, but it was driving me crazy.

I've taken it to my dealer today and he's ordering a new locking mechanism, which hopefully should solve the matter....(it will be fixed under the 3 yr warranty).

As an aside, I know of one other Panda owner who cannot get out of her car as it keeps locking her in, and she sometimes has to scramble over the seats to get out. Personally, I'd be alarmed about this as it would not make me feel safe knowing I couldn't get out in an emergency.

Hopefully these problems are relatively isolated and not a major flaw on all pandas.

Thanks,

V

ok, was all sorted out today by the dealer, in my case was not the lock as originally thought, but a tiny micro switch inside the handle that was faulty, so as is the way with modern cars, required the whole handle to be changed out, and now is working as it should.

apparantly this item has been modified since original release.....
