Hi, we just purchased a new panda multijet yesterday, and a fine car it is too !
what we can understand is, because we never checked, because our old fiat had 3 years aa cover. The new car only has 12 months, BUT fiat give 2 years manufacturers warranty, now lets say it breaks down at 13 months old, if fiat are responsible for fixing it, how come its NOT THEIR responsiblity to recover it ?
Anyone from fiat care to comment ?
I think its the hapeth of tar job, they are spoiling a very good product for the sake of £50 breakdown cover.

I think Fiat is nuts.

One of the reasons I bought a new car three years ago was that it had three years AA cover. Now it is one only. I was concerned then about Fiat's hedgy third year warranty, which is not entirely comprehensive.

Now; the warranty and the breakdown cover are not techniclly related, so Fiat is perfectly in order since the breakdown cover has to be 'bought in' so to speak by them. But I think it is mean, and counter-productive from a sales point of view.

I have not needed the AA in three years, and now have paid up myself for the current fourth year of course, as I expected to do. But if you tally the costs of your having to pay for two years cover yourself during the car's warranty period - well - it ads up, and it is a drag.

It would be sensible for Fiat to demonstrate confidence in their products by offering the three year total cover. From a purchaser's point of view this is an incentive. As I have said before, with Asian manufacturers offering longer and longer warranties to glean sales it will be vital for European manufacturers to at least offer something similar as an incentive. I bet Fiat will re-think this one.

Has no one else got an oppinion on this subject, come on you dealer techys tell me what you think !
I agree fiat are nuts, and will end up rethinking this one, since the far easterns are giving so many freebies with thier cars

Thanks for the info stuart, I didnt haggle my dealer about the breakdown cover on our new panda, as I wasnt aware fiat had watered it down the tight gits !
Anyhow I'm about to place an order for a brand new doblo, once I have finished negotiating the price down. It seems that £8500 seems to be the bottom line for a multijet 1.3 active.
Heres the cruncher though IF ANYONE FROM FIAT UK IS READING THIS.
Before I order the the doblo. THE DEALER HAD BETTER MAKE SURE ITS COVERED FOR BREAKDOWN IN THE FIRST 2 YEARS. Or else it will be NO DEAL and I'll be tripping off to a citreon dealer for a berlingo.
I'm not insisting on 3 years, because in my oppinion, fiats only have 2 years warranty, and the 3rd years "dealer" warranty is noddy, I try to get shut of my fiats once they get 2 years old.
