General Warning lights staying on

Happened me once a few months back... but switching engine off and back on sorted it... It hasn't happened again.

I had this on my Punto, i diconnected the battery for 20 minutes and all was fine after.

i am advising please let the car do the diagnostic check before you crank your engine. the computer sometime confuse

Now that the damp mornings are coming, I sometimes get lights coming on etc but as soon as I have driven a few miles all is back to normal.

Its only happened the once to me...but friend has just traded in her 18month old Eleganza as it was a regular problem. The dealer would just say computer says no faults,so in the end, she got rid.

Hi
I have a pre-facelift Multipla 1.9JTD 20K, and have twice had this problem. When I switch on it goes through the diagnostic tests, beeps at me and reports 'ABS failure', 'EBD failure', 'Switch off the engine', 'Call garage'. The ABS light stays on as does the parking brake light. I have asked on the forum but nothing suggested helps including disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes. The first time the car had been standing for 6 weeks and the battery was possibly low. I charged it up and warnings went away and I thought 'nice cheap repair!'
The second time that didn't make any difference and the problem persists.
I suspect a poor connection or sensor but don't know what particular ones to check or where they are found.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Since posting my last message I have put a meter on the disconnected cable at the handbrake switch. The battery reading is 12.2V. The handbrake cable reading is 11V. The brake lights work but I haven't checked the voltage.
I had already noticed the reading was low when I connected the meter at the rear harness. Does this suggest somewhere I should look?
