Thinking of buying a new panda either diesel/4x4 or 1.2.
Unfortunately I have a car to trade in, as havent had alot of luck selling it privately. Is there any particular model to go for or avoid.I like he idea of the 4x4 but seems slow, so thinking of the diesel.
Only prices I have been quoted are 1.2 £6366, 1.3 £7100 & 4x4 £8400, unfortunately this isnt o% finance as advertised on fiats website, but doubt if I would get that with a trade in..
What do you think?.. I will be looking around this weekend, going for test drives, Ive had cinqs, seis and old pandas in the past, so expect the new panda not to disappoint.:)

Well, if you don't need the 4x4 the diesel is first choice - if the price is right.

The 4x4 is great if you're going to use the feature, but otherwise adds weight and petrol consumption...... Haven't yet hit 40mpg on my 4x4 when the diesel guys are reporting 60mpg plus....

Ya pays ya money....

its all down to which car you like, but i must admit i am partial to the 1.3 16v multijet, if that had have been out when i got my 1.2 i would have bought that. its very sporty and fast compared to the 1.2 and to e honest i am not too keen on the 4x4 as i think they are a bit big and chunky for a little car. plus they are very high up.

but i hope you find what your looking for and have fun with the test drives, good fun cars to drive!

I've recently ordered a new 4x4 with metallic paint and aircon for £8,300 should get it in 3 weeks:D

I went for the 4x4 as you get quite a few extras included (roof bars, alloy wheels, fornt fogs etc) and I like the chunky feel of the 4x4 plus I currently have a classic 4x4. Not worried about the lack of speed as anything has to be quicker than the old 4x4 and mpg whould be better to

I have a Salsa 4x4 on order with the skydome and sliding back seat. I like the idea of the 4x4 as I go to work at 4am and during the bad weather this is going to be a plus. That and I really like it's chunky looks. When I test drove one I had been told they were very slow which I never found. Yes the Diesel is quicker (as it should be) but as an every day car I found it can keep up with the flow no problem.
Only down side is I will have been waiting 10 weeks for it to arrive due to Italy/Poland being on hols throughout August and ordering it with the options. I would say if you go for one, the sliding back seat is a must.

Unless you have a particular need for a 4x4 I would go for the diesel. I have now had my Panda about 18 months & I think it's a great little car.

It depends upon your driving attitude. If you always want to be in front of the car in front, then no Panda is really going to be fast enough for you. If you are happy to just go with the flow of traffic, then the diesel is fine, and I'd expect the 4x4 probably is too.
I've gone from being the former type (when I had the Coupe), to the latter type (in the Panda).
The diesel will get better fuel economy than the 4x4, and with its larger fuel tank, can do 500 miles on a tank, while you could probably manage about 300 miles in the 4x4, with its slightly smaller tank.
The 4x4 does look more chunky though. (y)

Thanks for that, I was really fancying the muiltjet, but went out for a test drive in one and the 1.2. Decided to go for the 1.2 with extras, due to the budget and the fact they had one in stock, and didnt fancy waiting til November for the multi. Plus got a good trade in on the peugeot, didnt want to have to shell out for my tax for it in 3 weeks time.
Hoping I pick it up on Saturday, so will keep you updated..
Unfortunately doesnt have the boot light, but fancy a few extras, so will look thru the brio book when I get it.
Fozzy:)
