Re: panda 4x4 2005 1.2 8v what engine ?

as far as a know. No

just to change the exhaust manifold for the Puntos requires major modifications

the studs are different sizes and the connection is different

which involves drilling out the holes and welding

throttle body maybe. Sometimes they work. Sometimes not. Someone did two cars. One worked fine. The other didn't. Probably depends on the ECU version

why

even the 69HP isnt any better. What you gain at High revs you loose at low and for a 4x4 it low down that counts

The 60HP engine actually has more power & torque below 3500 than the 69HP one.

On a road car in general use, driveability is much more important than absolute peak power; perhaps even more so on a 4x4.

Personally I wouldn't contemplate this; if the 60HP engine isn't giving you the drive you want, buy a different car.

I'd take a 60HP Euro 4 Panda over a 69HP Euro 5 one, every time.

Re: panda 4x4 2005 1.2 8v what engine ?

I've often thought that what the Panda needed was the 1.4 8v, 80hp engine. More power than the 1.2, not so lively as the 100hp. I think that might go well in the 4x4 too.

amazing that this engine is un tuningble .... i wanted to buy the diesel engine but is 2000e more .. a very good local tuner told me that he can reprogram the ecu but for very small gains ....the punto 75 cam ? or reprofile ? why my cento engine 1.2 spi was so tuning friendly and this is not ? just for little better open road trip

It tuneable

but

its not straight forward

its not cheap

here in the UK your starting with a 700 car that 17 years old you can take it up to 200 BHP by adding a turbo and throwing money at it

But you could just start with a Corsa b 16v which is good for 200 bhp on standard internals

170 approx vernier pully
350 approx fast road cam
600 approx forged pistion
3rd party ECU
larger injectors
Turbo

and so on

easy spend 4x 10x the price of the car

or you could change the exhaust so it sounds better.

or just buy a 100HP which would be cheaper

For potentially the cost of return postage just get this. It it's no good just send it back.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_f...42711&_sacat=0

It will need a catalyst under the floor. Talk to these guys -https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/mijexhaust?_trksid=p2047675.l2559 who could supply a larger cat to place under the floor and modify the ends to fit your needs.

not a straight fit for a Panda

different stud size

different last bend

flange fitting

pushes the power band higher up the revs

pointless as a mod on its own

Agreed. Once you've put a cat on, the benefits (if any) will be negligible.

It's all been said already. For normal everyday driving, the 60HP FIRE is a great engine straight out of the box. Most modifications will end up making it less flexible and will likely reduce performance where it matters most.

The link, sadly just takes us to a main page, so would have to search for the particular thread, with little to go on.

However, whilst a race-tuned engine might be exciting at times, popping to the shops might be a real pain.

I didn't have enough interest to link all the pages.

loads of information all over the forum

there is a rolling road printout with 110BHP

its a very limited formula in what mods are allowed

pistons, rods, Crank, flywheel are all factory parts

cam is made for the formula

inlet and exhaust are free
