hi i want to buy a panda 2005 4x4 and i see that from 2004-2010 this engine produces 60 hp ...is it the 1.2 8v spi that i used to have in my sei ? that engine was also 60 hp ..does the same parts fit in panda 4x4 engine ? i had install the punto 75 cam and exhaust manifold and thortle body with very good gains and no problems till i sell the car ....any help on engine tuning ?10/15 ps will be more than welcome

as far as a know. No

just to change the exhaust manifold for the Puntos requires major modifications

the studs are different sizes and the connection is different

which involves drilling out the holes and welding

throttle body maybe. Sometimes they work. Sometimes not. Someone did two cars. One worked fine. The other didn't. Probably depends on the ECU version

why

even the 69HP isnt any better. What you gain at High revs you loose at low and for a 4x4 it low down that counts

:yeahthat:

The 60HP engine actually has more power & torque below 3500 than the 69HP one.

On a road car in general use, driveability is much more important than absolute peak power; perhaps even more so on a 4x4.

Personally I wouldn't contemplate this; if the 60HP engine isn't giving you the drive you want, buy a different car.

I'd take a 60HP Euro 4 Panda over a 69HP Euro 5 one, every time.

amazing that this engine is un tuningble .... i wanted to buy the diesel engine but is 2000e more .. a very good local tuner told me that he can reprogram the ecu but for very small gains ....the punto 75 cam ? or reprofile ? why my cento engine 1.2 spi was so tuning friendly and this is not ? just for little better open road trip

It tuneable

but

its not straight forward

its not cheap

here in the UK your starting with a £700 car that 17 years old you can take it up to 200 BHP by adding a turbo and throwing money at it

But you could just start with a Corsa b 16v which is good for 200 bhp on standard internals

£170 approx vernier pully
£350 approx fast road cam
£600 approx forged pistion
3rd party ECU
larger injectors
Turbo

and so on

easy spend 4x 10x the price of the car

or you could change the exhaust so it sounds better.

or just buy a 100HP which would be cheaper

i already have a clio rs 2010 and an alfa 145 qv :) but if i manage to give the 4x4 something more i will do it :)

For potentially the cost of return postage just get this. It it's no good just send it back.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313&_nkw=384039142711&_sacat=0

It will need a catalyst under the floor. Talk to these guys -https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/mijexhaust?_trksid=p2047675.l2559 who could supply a larger cat to place under the floor and modify the ends to fit your needs.

not a straight fit for a Panda

different stud size

different last bend

flange fitting

pushes the power band higher up the revs

pointless as a mod on its own

Agreed. Once you've put a cat on, the benefits (if any) will be negligible.

It's all been said already. For normal everyday driving, the 60HP FIRE is a great engine straight out of the box. Most modifications will end up making it less flexible and will likely reduce performance where it matters most.

The link, sadly just takes us to a main page, so would have to search for the particular thread, with little to go on.

However, whilst a race-tuned engine might be exciting at times, popping to the shops might be a real pain.:D

I didn't have enough interest to link all the pages.

loads of information all over the forum

there is a rolling road printout with 110BHP

its a very limited formula in what mods are allowed

pistons, rods, Crank, flywheel are all factory parts

cam is made for the formula

inlet and exhaust are free

i think in the formula is the spi engine not the 4x4 mpi

makes no difference they are only using the head and block

running on a carb and custom cam

Its easer and cheaper as the are running over a thousand RPM past were the electronic brain runs out of map

For a road car there's no regulations. You can do the same with a third party ECU larger injectors and some time on the rolling Road

here in the UK your talking £450 for the rolling Road £350 for the cam by the time you've add ECU , injectors, inlet, exhaust its easy over 2K far more than price of a 04 car and will not dive as well as the standard diesel version.

the whole exercise is pointless in my opinion. But each to there own.

Just sell the 1.2 and buy a 100HP or a diesel and have it remapped. But on the latter, keep some budget for the clutch and gearbox as the added torque quickly finds their limits.

Mozart, I can guarantee you that tuning your 1.2 will cost you more then 2000 Euros and you'll end with a peaky undrivable engine.
tuning wise i was talking about small things like intake /exhaust /tb / not chasing big gains just a breath

in the last 5 year. I haven't seen a single print out of a before and after on a rolling road

1.1 or 1.2

if a simple gain was possible then I sure someone would have posted proof by now

even Fiat struggled the new more powerful eco engine isnt as nice to drive as the older 60hp
