Technical Panda Rear Shockers Advice Please

I think those 2 V shape gaps in the rubber above and below the bolt are meant to be there, maybe something to do with factory OEM? My panda had them too on OEM dampers before i changed them, but the nearside definitely needs changing before MOT as you can see the worn elongated oval the bolt is sitting in.

nope its torn

its very common

I just changed two the same

the centre is twist when it was tightened up

tears top and bottom just as in the photo

That is the 'void' ... ;)

( ford cortinas had VoidBushes on the rear axle... a very regular failure point )

nope there damaged. There no void. It not like the front wishbone Bush.

When new they are solid.

just torn. there 4 different sizes.

imagine twisting just the centre. Then moving the centre up and down. it will tear just as it has done.

Its very common when a garage lifts it up on a two post and changes everything here with the air wrench.

no doubt not helped by cheap parts.

the make cofap is just visible on the newer shock

just to remove any doubt

here a cofap top mount

I was fooled by the angle of the bottom pic.. Yes it is Offside that was changed

Seeing the bill could make this a lot clearer.

correct

if asking for the work just to pass an MOT this would be the only one to be changed which fits

They do fail just after a year normally if poorly fitted. Never looked to see what state they are in after 8 months

Also going to depend on speed humps. Parking on curbs and so on.

wasn't a post 2012 with a ricambi by any chance ? There a completely different construction and not just a slit but shaped

not seen them fitted on a pre 2012 although none will now be on there original set

I have no idea if they were ever fitted to the 169 ?

but its not the case here. I posted a pic of the same shock above. The make is just visible in the photograph Its very common to tear as has happened here.

There a chance the old shock is of this type. There a hint of the bump at the bottom. Cant make out the top in the photo.

Here an OEM arbarth. Not a great photo. The large bumps still stop any vertical movement

Thanks all on your interest to my problem.
I have returned to the original garage and obtained refund for the rear problem and then taken the car to another garage and had two new shocks fitted all is now well.
