Hello I have a 2006 1.3 Multijet that has a noisy fuel pump, it tends to whine.

Is there anything simple I can do to fix this?

If there isn’t a easy fix, can I swap it for a Petrol Fuel Pump from 2005 1.1 Active?

Once they start whining there's a possibility of them not staring one day without taking the seat out and giving it a tap.

Google "eper" and "fiat" it will give you the electronic parts list


The two part numbers for the petrol are different to the number for the diesel


I did look at the punto and thats not the same part either


I didn't check the 500 which stands a Good chance

i just changed mine as it was easy, cheap to replace (petrol) and had done 200,000 miles


there are some gauze that could get blocked. Might be worth checking. I didn't look to carefully as the decision was already made to replace and the car was 40 miles away I just took a replacement with me



normally I would just hammer off the locking ring. On my car the tank plastic had expand making it impossible. Luckily I had an old horseshoe in the boot of the car which I converted using a hacksaw bought from a pound shop.

This is not cheap but could save a lot of misery. The biggest issue is avoiding it cross-threading when refitting. Some red grease on the threads can help. DO NOT grease the rubber seal/gasket.
