Case study of two so not yet a common fault both around 2010 and 1.2L
Oil breather not clearing under low revs and short journeys
causing poor acceleration, rough idle on start up until you blip the throttle
If the engine light has been on and your scanner reads freeze frame there might be some odd values like -30 degrees
barometric pressure jumping all over the place
Fuel trims will be way high
Take of the air filter. Oil on top of the throttle body
Take out the MAP sensor. (one T25 screw) and a drop of oil on the end of it. You can leave the wire electrical wire connected
First off. Do NOT clean the oil from the top of the throttle butterfly by spraying it with brake cleaner. It can enter the delicate electronics on the side giving problems latter down the line.
Be very carful of your fingers these flyby wire can give you a nasty surprise and possible damage. Its better to disconnect its connector or the battery. I dont. But I understand the risk and only clean the excess oil from the top.
If there is carbon build. Which neither cars had its worth removing as it effects the throttle open angle which messes up the ECU values.
Apply brake cleaner to a cloth and wipe away. It important not to spray brake cleaner directly. You might get away with it. But is it worth the risk.
the MAP sensor is on the left of the Black inlet manifold. There is a long tube that goes through to the throttle body. I soak a strip cloth in brake cleaner then push it down while spinning . You will find a small pool of oil at the very end. If you don't remove this you will be back to square one in a week or so as happened to me the First time I thought I had fixed it.
it will run a bit strange at first until it learns the new values. You could disconnect the battery. I dont bother its 100% After the first Good drive.
