Hi all.. after a valiant effort the back box on my 100hp has shed all its skins and needs replacing. Local exhaust shop can get a replacement but they don't come with a chrome tailpipe finisher.

At the moment I think the ultersport will be purchased.

However, just wondering if anyone has gone generic aftermarket and separate tailpipe finisher. If so can you share what you bought ( backbox and finisher )

Thanks

You could get an oval stainless box with offset pipe (diagonal inside). Specifiy a clamp-on pipe ends then you can connect to the existing pipe at front and fit a fancy outlet at back.

Talk to this supplier as I'm sure they can make a 10" x 10" box as used in the Panda. This is their standard oval 8" (or 10") x 5" -

When the rest of the system goes belly up, get a 600mm centre section box and some mandrel bends.

I recently had to weld my catalyst outlet. I have only a cheap stick welder but with the right rods it's quite easy to weld. Lots of stuff on YouTube showing how to do it. If you dont have the time (or the kit), a bespoke exhaust maker will do a full system in stainless for about £300.

Welding anything on the car, disconnect battery, unplug alternator and engine ECU. I blew the rectifier on a bike alternator when I had "just" disconnected the battery. Cars would be no different.

Box with chrome tip can be had from after market. I got mine from an internet supplier based in Northampton for a sensible price a handful of years back went on perfectly. I will try and find the name of the supplier. At the time they said it was the first pattern part for the 100HP.

The Ulter back box is ok but its mild steel so life will be limited and it's not low cost. eBay has some 1400 spec boxes from around £85. Who knows about the quality.
