Technical Panda 1.2 4x4 not starting

I found a similar picture, I guess the insulator is removed the small brown wire fitted the insulator replaced then the main cables attached to the end of the stud.
if you look at the big metal ring, it is soldered to the terminal stub on the solonoid which is the normal place on most other vehicles to attach the ignition (brown) wire Fiat have just done something slightly different.

However, by the sound of it, you may have tried starting the car with the ignition wire hanging loose and touching earth which means a main fuse may have popped hence the lack of any power.

when test on the bench

if you put 12v to the copper thread and ground to its body nothing will happen

you need to engage the solenoid by a jumper to the ring highlighted also to 12v.

if you ground the body and 12v to the highlighted ring you will see the gear move but the motor will not spin

that motor has 200.000 miles on it and still going strong. I use it just for testing

correct both the main and ignition wires are on the Same Post just insulated from each other

I think we need to start at the beginning

the new and old starter are the same

the old one was fubar

doesn't help from this end of the keyboard

I don't even know if its cranking (Turning over)

after over 400,000 miles of Pandas and several years on here. I haven't as far as I remember seen or heard of a starter motor thats failed to start a car. The odds are against two

the things we have seen are skipped cam belts, flat batteries, faulty ignition switches and so on

without more information we are shooting blind

I was under the impression that if you turn the key the dash lights don't come on. Post 1. Is this correct. Without power to the ECU, Body computer and so on. Your not going to get anywhere

starters are the same.

old one was definitely fubar

car is not cranking over

battery is brand new (plus i put and old charged one on too)

turning the key does absolutely nothing! fuel pump doesn’t even prime

have you connected two wires

thick red wire

and in place of the White wire in this mock up there should be a brown wire with a star washer

there's some large current around here I wouldn't mess with anything else until we have confirmed is wired correctly

what i have done now, i have added the black spacer in so the Brown wire is at the bottom as your white wire. then, I have put the two red wires through the black casing and bolted them on top of each other

red wires between the two nuts (y)

sounds like we are moving forward

has the brown cable ever been left loose ??

when you turn the key what lights up on the dash ?

what was the car doing before changing the starter

yes, the brown wire has been left loose.

no lights come up at all on the dash

Black fuse box in the engine Bay right hand side. look at the 20A fuse

should the one to blow if the brown wire contacted the engine accidently.

was this what the car was doing original or is the no lights on the dash new ?

be careful when checking the fuses

there are some blank spaces. It will not be the first time someone has pulled a fuse out to check it put it back in an adjacent space then spent days chasing their tails

A photo on a phone makes a handy reference (y)

take a look at this one. Pull it out

there's a hint its been hot top right of the fuse

there transparent. You should be able to see if its blown from the side

fuse box is pretty different to my old 1.2

either post a picture and description of the fuse locations from your owner manual

or pull and inspect each

I can't find a manual with your type of fuse box online. Fiat do chop and change it around quite a bit. Is rare 4o find two the same

F23 normally powers the ignition and is normally a 20A fuse on a 1.2

seems to match this one which is my best guess

f23 and 20A match

what this one look like from the side
