Evening all,

Bought a (new to me) 08 Panda JTD to replace my old 05 one, however it idles circa 1000rpm both at cold and warm start up and when I dip the clutch at junctions.

My old 2005 model used to idle at 750-800 rpm max. Can I turn the fuel pump down (is it even adjustable?), put in the 2005 injectors (not sure if that will have any affect on the idle either).

Any help/suggestions/advice would be appreciated.

Cheers - Neil

Hi again,

Apologies for the tardy reply, but have finally checked the position of the throttle and it is 0%. Any ideas on where to go from here or what to check next - cheers

Dam. The pedal is becoming a common fault on the diesel for some reason.

Running out of ideas as I don't have any experience of the multijet

I can see a few similar threads on the Punto section but can't see any that reported back with a fix

Does your car have aircon. If its on it raises the idle. LED could be out ?

I would probably start by disconnecting the map sensor. Then make sure the actuator arm hasn't seized.

Thanks, tbh I have already checked the other sections/threads before putting fingers to keyboard as I know it can be frustrating answering the same issues just in different forums (we all have to start somewhere admittedly).

Old JTD did have climate control but that idled as said at about 750, this new one, has nothing just standard heating (no a/c or c/c) which has got me searching. MAF was disconnected and ran crappy, once reconnected ran great so assume MAF is working.

For the time being it will just have to remain as is as don't want to switch high pressure fuel pump from old car to new one as don't know whether it is simply plug and play.

Will check the actuator arm for free movement as suggested above and also may swap the fuel rail and sensors to see if they alter anything too.

I will of course report back anything I discover incase it benefits someone else too. Cheers

The ECU controls the idle speed cant see the HP pump making any difference,
is the engine getting up to normal temp? some temp senders have 2 in one so
one works the gauge the other feeds the ecu, if you have a spare on the other
car try swapping that it's easier than the pump and may fix it.
