Hello everyone.

I've been registered here in the forum for a long time and have read a lot about the little problems and their solutions of the panda.
But now I have a problem to which I haven't been able to find a solution - not even an approach - anywhere.
Therefore I hope to get one here. A solution - or an approach to it.

We have had the 1.1 with 54hp for years without climate and we have always been very satisfied.
But now the costs for the repairs would have been too high and by chance a "new old" one was found in the nearer surroundings.
A 1.2 from 2012 with climate and very very few kilometers. And with exactly that there is the problem.

To the problem: The subject of this topic is program.
When the brake pedal is released at idle, the engine speed is increased. And the same thing happens when the clutch pedal is pressed.
If the brake pedal is already pressed, nothing happens when the clutch pedal is pressed.

I don't suspect a mechanical defect, but "only" a problem with the engine control.
It could be something like a "starting aid", which should prevent the engine from "stalling" when starting?

Since I first noticed the phenomenon only when I pressed the clutch, I tried to solve the problem by unplugging the clutch pedal switch.
But this made everything even worse and the car became almost "undriveable" then the engine revved up way too much too long when disengaging the clutch during the shifting process.

Here is a link to a video and a screenshot of the read out ECU information.

Does anybody have an idea how to adjust / switch off this function so that "the new one" can be driven like our good old 1.1 ?
Maybe with a resistor in the right place to simulate the pedal positions or something like that?
Because in the ECU this can not be adjusted after feedback of a (probably) known Fiat ECU specialist, because there is no license / approval for this ECU to adjust.

I have to add that there is no error stored on ECU.

I would be really grateful for every hint.

I created a video that describes the behaviour very well, but I am not allowed to post links here yet :-(

So at first, just the ECU information.
Maybe someone has an Idea already and / or can provide information about an available software update / adjustment for that ECU.

Regards,

Wow, what a fast reply.

Many thanks, koalar.
It is a 169 Panda, but it sounds like the Murphy-modification will do it.
What I did was pulling the plug from the switch, but I should have just disable the function of the switch by removing it from the pedal.

I am just back home and do not have the option to do the modification right now, but I will do it tomorrow afternoon.

i will keep you updated.

Many thanks for your reply, but I do not expect it to be a mechanical problem since I can reproduce the "Error" with just the clutch pedal. And that cannot really affect the throttelbody - a trhrottlebox leak, can it?

Partial success !

I removed the switch from its fitting and fixed it to the wiring harness as the pic shows.
Now the idle speed is not increased when clutch pedal is pushed.

Now it is almost driveable like a "normal" car where the driver has to have the feeling for clutch and throttle.
But of course the break pedal switch cannot be removed that simple, the idle speed is increased when loosing the break.
Maybe that is a thing I can live with and get used to it, but if anybody has an idea of how to get rid of this "automatism", I would even buy a new / different ECU - if one can guarantee that a different ECU will work with all the motor components and sensors.

But there is one thing I worry about.
Will everything else work now with the manipulation of the switch?
The ECU now "thinks" that the clutch pedal is pushed all the time.
Will the ABS work? Does anybody know about it?

Was there an 1,2 69HP Motor in the 169 available that has not had the clutch pedal switch by default?

Sorry

No idea

Might be worth switching off hill assist, start stop and eco mode or any other electronic aids it might have.

And retry
