Have a 1.1 active 2007 with a misfire.starts ok and runs ok then misfire bit lumpy then ok seems to be on the warm up.looked at the threads on forum and thought right start from the basics. Part1 i will change the plugs the ignition coils and the leads and see what happens...part2 the loom and ecu.
It misfires when on a run now and then no lights on dash.
Shoud i spend money on a diagnostic test before i go to part 1/2 or should i start on plugs ect.thanks in advance. I AM PRESUMING THE POOR MILEAGE IS THE RESULT OF THE MISFIRE.

its always difficult to know were to start with something thats nearly working

check battery voltage before you start the car

Check the fluid levels

smell the coolant

video of the misfire

photo of the sparkplugs in the correct order cylinder 1,2,3,4

If its a regular misfire I normally pull the injector connectors one at a time

it shouldn't be the ECU wire fault unless it happens going over bumps

the one that makes no difference will be the cylinder thats causing the problems

Ok will check all that you say and see what happens.it could be the loom as is seems a lot of problems occur with thewiring.

Wiring is the last thing to look at, it's is much more likely to be a dodgy sparkplug, lead or coil.
When was the last service/sparkplug change?
I would probably change the plugs anyway, if it's still misfiring then getting it on a diagnostic machine will save you time and money replacing stuff, although plugleads are cheap.
I just changed mine as they looked original and when I changed the plugs, one of them wasn't clicking on as well as I like.

If you're going to do DIY on any car you will need an OBD reader. When I brought my Panda Dualogic I knew I was taking a risk and not because it was a FIAT. The complexity of modern cars means electrical faults need diagnostic tools to assist in repair.

hi back on line. thats why i was going to change plugs/leads first to see if it made a difference, then move on to other things. borrowed a code reader and got a 0352 code, borrowed the same reader today and no codes showed up.
thats what i like about this forum members dont seem to be phased about discussing faults with their cars and helping others.will keep all who replied posted.thanks

Sorry for delay, bought it like this as i had code reader and got reduce price to fix.ran ok when bought but over the last month started again.had it about 7 weeks.

By the way just been on t
he europarts site for plugs/leads and they have discounted by 40% off price.
It seems to expire in 5-6days.

Check all plug leads/ecu/and connecters and it seems to have work.thought is was a fluke that had sorted it self out but i was wrong,on reflection should have taken one step at a time so i will change the plugs, as i dont know how old they are, then the leads and see what happens.no warning lights on dash just rough running and misfire.

I'd also do a compression test, just to rule out any major mechanical problems. They're not common on this engine, but they do sometimes happen.

Great.never thought of comp test will try that.btw my panda is about 32mpg aroung town so will also investigate that.thanks for the tip.

The Good news is P0352 is normally a simple fix

It refers to the coil pack

either the coil pack itself or the wiring

This will be causing the misfire

After the plugs/leads, the coils were next, the ecu cable ties have been ordered[extra long] as i read it on an earlier post but thanks for the info.as i said earlier that what i like about the members the info is good from their problems.

Eurocarparts always have a sale discount code, one ends and another starts, they vary from 34 - 50% off
I try to wait if I can trying different codes, depending on what I'm after, but brake parts and service items have the best discounts.

Back again.last week the beast was misfireing on warm up so decid es to change plugs /leads.gets into it and it has run all week,no misfires, great acceleration and generally well behaved,so i will leave it and see what happens.no code on reader so whats next?.
