Hi folks,
Planning a long trip to the Alps in my '08 1.2 Dynamic.
Any tips on Panda-specific spares to take should something fail and i could change myself?

I did a 5000 mile trip last year, and doing another in a few weeks.

I just take the bits you need by law....bulbs, warning triangles etc.

To be honest, if the car is up together and looked after, it shouldn't need anything.....and in all likelihood, if it's something serious enough to cause a breakdown, calling out breakdown truck is best option.

I thought about taking some spares....but I've already changed most bits that wear out.....if it does breakdown, it'll probably be something major that I can't do much about.

I'll take a small bottle of oil, some screenwash and water just in case.

It's Italy. (well maybe ;)) Panda spares are sold in the corner shop. :D

Other than that check the obvious stuff - brakes - cooling - exhaust - tyres.

Any doubt on the brakes do a full service with discs pads and drums.
Cooling - check that (in)famous steel pipe under the exhaust manifold and check the rad for coolant stains. New rads are not silly money.

Exhaust - Fit a new system if there is significant rust.

Add a pack of Zip cable ties and some spare fuses. The little ones can be hard to find.

Headlight beam adjusters / or change the lights
Breathaliser for france and
H vis vests for all the cars seats
Euro spec first aid kit
Green card
spare key
sweets drinks
2 screw drivers
1 pr pliers fine nosed
small 1/4 inch socket set

Tools enable light bulb changes. I would expect the Panda would shrug off such a short trip. The 2WD Panda pop made it from cape town to london without problems!

That's quite some response, cheers folks!
The note about the small fuses is duly, er, noted ;0)
Wrt a full size spare wheel, i'm changing the rear tyres and one's in good shape so could stick that on but where to purchase a 5Bx13H2?

I have the original space saver spare on my 2007 100HP. It worked just fine after hitting motorway debris, so I'd not stress too much about using a full size spare.

However this does raise another issue. I was parked on hard ground so the car's wheel change jack was able to get under the jacking point. But I did not feel at all safe using it. Carrying a better quality jack and some wheel chocks would make sense for us all. Most will need a slotted wood block to to protect the sill jacking points.

Maybe others can say what they do.

500 miles at 50 mph.. not my idea of fun

When I did day trips to Northern France I was happy to live with the boot carpet having a raised profile :)

Jacks.. tend to be bulky.. I had a 'bottle jack' in a plastic carry case
To be used in parallel with the cars original.

As an aside..Mk1 panda jacks were fantastic...
Why have these things got cheaper..and less efficient.. :(

My brother regularly did the 800 miles Derby to Aosta Valley in Italy on an MZ 250. He was mad of course but says (winter excepted) it was really not much harder than going by car.
