I am getting very bad fuel milage, it is 10.5litres/100km, on 1.2 panda with panoramic roof and 14 inch original alloy wheels. NO Air conditioning, in city driving with light foot. It is doing only 330 km on full tank,
Engine oil is new, throttle body is Ok , i have changed fuel injectors even, air filter is also new, engine sounds bit louder and the throttle response is not good as well.

I have checked the spark plugs, they were not brown, but yellowish !
What could be the real issue ? Shall i change O2 ?
I did diagnostic test it says only problem of one rear Abs sensor, bakes are not jammed etc.
Expert help needed

10.5L/100km works out at 26mpg thereabouts. That is far lower than I'd expect. The 1.2L engine is supposed to give better economy than the 1.1L engine (which is in my Panda) and I get around 40mpg with fairly uneconomical driving.

Have you jacked each side up and checked that the wheels spin freely, no brake drag? I wouldn't expect a seized caliper to cause quite such high fuel consumption, but best to check.

Have you tried taking the car on a longer run and seeing how much that improves the fuel consumption?

That is very poor fuel consumption but are you only driving 10km journeys?

What year your panda made?
1.2 but how many kw ?

your electronic reading will be inaccurate, to get a proper reading fill tank drive a set amount of kilometres, fill tank and work it out from that.

mines fairly good once its settled down. Better to let it run for thousands of miles

Its an average so its no good to keep hitting the reset button

mine always reads out for the First few hundred miles after the battery been disconnected

light grey/yellow sounds correct

Abs sensor could effect the computer as it uses them to work out the road speed but this isn't the problem as 330k per 35 litre tank = 9.4 so the computer isn't far out.

"Engine sounds a bit louder." put your hand over the exhaust pipe and see if pressure builds up. A leak above the O2 sensor will hurt economy

ABS still needs sorting though "safety"

Does your temp gauge get up to half way ? A faulty thermostat will make a big difference to MPG.

Can anyone say weather the coolant gauge is driven by the temp the engine ecu reads or does gauge have a separate temp sensor?

same sensor

if the gauge is near the middle its near enough not to worry about

even a thermat permanently open is only a couple of mpg at most. I ran mine missing it seal, stopping it from closing for 6 months and didn't notice any difference.

same sensor

Very sensible of Fiat.
A lot of vw stuff has two sensors built into one unit, one sensor tells gauge what to read the other informs ecu. So even if gauge reading about right you have to read live data to see what ecu sees.
So if even if gauge reads correctly you can't be sure ecu getting correct information.

would be pointless

as there is an ambient air temp built into the MAP sensor

this does fail and cause all sorts of poor running. Will run okay with it disconnected if slightly rich though

Sorry lost me there.

I think it's sensible ,the fiat way , to have one coolant temp sensor informing engine ecu coolant temperature then engine ecu telling gauge what to do.

Lots of vag engines have 2 coolant temperature sensor elements built into one body that dips into coolant. One element informs ecu, other element informs coolant gauge.
The inlet air temperature sensor is in the air inlet.

Sorry if I have gone off topic.

Yes thermostat is good,
I drive short journey less than 10km
Electronic reading might be in correct ,but 330-350 km per tank tells of high fuel consumption.
I never took it on long routes .

On one of the threads you started about this, you said you changed the cam belt.
Have you checked to make sure you fitted belt exactly correctly ?
with the alignment of crankshaft and camshaft 100% right?

How many Kw is your engine?
What year your car?

Belt seems fine, however i will check it again, it is 1.2 litre 60 bhp engine, 117000 km done , 2004 model.

When you do check again please post photographs of the crank shaft sprocket alignment and camshaft sprocket alignment . Plenty of people on forum will be able to see if correct or not and help you.

When i changed the blet, there was. No mark on engine block to allign with, i did with marking my own marks . On both pullies !
