Hello everyone, im planning to change my gearbox oil. But i have searched and searched for TUTELA ZC 75 SYNTH and other 75W-80's. But i cant find that viscosity at all. Can i safely use other viscosities and if yes which?
Hope u can help, thanks! (y)

I own a 2007 model 1.2

I've been using redline synthetic MTL in my 1.2 dualogic panda for a while now and it helped the syncromesh noise a great deal.

It takes about two litres and I'd get a pump with a bit of hose as the fill hole is in an awkward spot.

its available through amazon. tried to post a link but the site won't let me:bang:

Firstly, thanks for ur reply.
No, not at all. I just thought i would treat my car with some new oil. I am unsure when it was changed lastly. So i thought i would do it as a preemptive measure. Is there a point in doing that or just money out of the window? It has done 123k km / 76k miles

I found it at my local motor factors, my 2004 1.2 owners' manual states it needs to be 75W-80 to API GL5 (1.65l)

It's available on ebay here

The transmission filler plug is 12mm allen key (front of 'box) / drain plug 8mm allen key (rear of 'box)

My manual also states just to check level, nothing about replacing...

But I did anyway when I first got my car, and the gearchange felt a lot better for it. It used to crunch changing down to third, but that's gone now. I suspect the level had been a little low.

Found it

fully synthetic EP75w-80 gear oil diff oil API GL-4 and it was about £18.00 for 2 litres delivered.

As a rule i don't like the smell of gear oil but i found the fully synthetic doesn't smell anywhere as much.

Is there a reason for changing the transmission oil? Are you having problems?

Although most manufacturers don't specify it in the service schedule, it's good practice to change the gearbox oil. The long chain molecules in the lubricant eventually get chopped up by the mechanical action of the gearbox and the oil loses some performance.

But how often?

Some say every 6yrs/72000 miles; another way of looking at it is to change it whenever you change the cambelt.

What is also important, but often overlooked, is to check the level from time to time (at least once a year). A small leak can go undetected and if the level drops too far, the gearbox can be seriously damaged.
