Hi guys my Fiat Panda 4x4 has failed it’s MOT
Power steering malfunctioning (2.1.5 (A) any one else has this issue? The wheel goes full lock to lock fine but when I let go it’s spins back very fast on its own,

Any advice would be great

Chris

Yes a red steering wheel, but when I turned the engine off and on again it went and the steering corrected it’s self. Is a torque sensor a big job?

A franchised dealer will replace the steering column complete; expect a bill of around £1000.

Better options are to either get your column repaired, or repair it yourself (trickier and needs MES to calibrate).

Strat by checking out these guys. They can either repair your own column, or supply a reconditioned exchange unit for a fraction of the price of a new column.

Repairing yourself can be done. I've taken the complete column out and taken inside. If you are very precise you can postpone recalibrating (worked for me).
I've done a very small How-to somewhere on this forum.

has it not failed its MOT due to the light coming on during the test?

Centring quickly. Is that while driving ? The Panda does centre better than some other cars. For example you can let the Panda Centre itself after a Shap corner but a Splash you have to centre it yourself. Has it changed

on gravel. Raise the revs to around 2-3K move the steering from lock to lock. Is it smooth. Is it the same left to right and right to left. Does the steering light come on.
