Cam belts dont just jump even on impact. I would be suspicious of the belt losing teeth or there being other hidden damage. Turn it by hand to see if there is any contact. You might be able to see the cam turning via the oil filler.

If you are buying the car, factor in a head rebuild ,cam belt kit, etc over and above any other repairs.


Internet specs should tell you if the engines are similar performance. Bear in mind that Fiats lock all ECUs, instruments cluster and immobiliser chip so you cannot easily change just one box. The boxes can be "virginised" but you need the correct equipment or an operative who can do it at low cost.
