General My New 100HP POS

Its going to be fun and ill post it all in a proper build thread.

So anxious to get started

The 4x4 gearbox is five speed with a low ratio first gear and probably far from ideal with a Turbo 100HP engine. It's also likely to be unable to take the power. At least, the differential crown wheel would need to be dutch dowelled to avoid it slipping. The clutch friction plate would need to be beefed up.

If you can fit the 4x4 diff and rear power take-off to the 6 speed 100HP box that really would be interesting as it shares (some of) the load from front to back. Get ready for some very special solid billet engineering work.

This sounds expensive again... Lol oh well, i think it would be worth it in the end.

We did this work on a 155 alfa romeo q4 after a turbo and clutch upgrade, the work wasnt cheap as the engineering work this side costed an arm and a leg but the end result was amazing

The 100HP is quick though not exactly powerful would benefit A LOT with four wheel drive. But go for softer springs with good dampers rather than harder springs. The 4x4 has an ARB at the back so that's easily sorted and 500 rear springs give a good ride height and good ride when used with rubber seats at both ends.

alright guys so I simply cannot wait anymore. Whilst I'm abroad, I'm getting the workshop to get started on the car. Our 2014 Abarth 500 Donor is going up for auction tomorrow, yes it will be a pretty penny but we can get the full car this way and start to strip the motor down, replace rods and pistons, all gaskets and fit it to the Panda then get to work on both intake and exhaust manifold so we can get the gt25 to fit. Don't worry, the sc12 charger will help with low end boost so it's not super laggy. I am chatting to Haltech now and should have an ecu by next week if all goes well. Going with a 1500 elite, perhaps 2000. Just waiting for recommendations. Whilst we wait for the a500 the workshop is going to prep the front bumper, front right fender, bootlid and boot spoiler for paint as well as replace the windscreen.

Anyways I am going to start a brand new thread when the next update rolls in as well as link this thread and others associated with this car to it aswell.. Stay tuned... Lol, pun intended

We are going to be pushing for the 300 mark and go from there.

It won't be an everyday driver, more like a toy really.

We are looking into a quaife lsd but no luck yet. I'll keep checking online whilst I'm in Miami but I'm bringing back so many things, weight is going to be an issue. Might need to do it next contract. I saw a 400hp a500 give a m4 a go on YouTube. #goals

anybody have any experience on Carrillo rods and pistons? Was going to do wossner or wiseco but if I can get a matching set that would be cool

so lost out on the auction again. The abarth didn't reach the reserve amount. Will check next week again

See if you can contact the seller to find out what they want for the car. The longer it stays in storage the more its costing them and there's risk of further damage.

Unfortunately these are accident damaged vehicles. I have contacted them on both Abarths and are not willing to do a sale other than the auction. Silly I know so it will be listed again on Monday and if we can reach reserve or perhaps there will be another a500. Problem is, no one else is bidding on it due to excessive damage. Engine is fine but bodywork is smashed. But perhaps it will not have a reserve amount this monday

Hello again gents. Hope you are staying safe and healthy. I just needed your input on this, perhaps some of you have some experience on this?Being home now with all that's happening I decided to put more time into the Panda, We will be running an aftermarket wheel and gauges and want to keep the dash clean by keeping the airbag fault lights off. Does anybody know what resistance is required for the airbag ecu to think the airbag is still there? I need resistance on the driver and passenger airbag?

You could make a patch connector to allow checking the voltage applied to the airbag and the current taken. Then you can work out the resistance. But if the circuit has more than two wires, all bets are off.

I guess you've seen Greg's MultiAir engine build on YouTube. His is from the Mazda (sorry) 124 Spyder but the engine is the same.

Another thought. Daft idea perhaps. Is there the physical space in the Panda for the 8 speed auto used on the 500X and Jeep Renegade?

Space maybe but no ECU support to get it to work

The airbags on the car blew when the previous owner rammed it into something LOL so can't measure it. Ebay sells a 2.2 ohm resistor and I can buy resistors from a local electronic store...

I need to check out greg's video :)

As far as gearbox goes, it's currently at a gearbox specialist, they are redo'ing the 6speed replacing all seals and noisy gears :)

Ive just done some digging around with Google. The 9 speed auto is surprisingly small and very efficient. BUT FCA have had all sorts of problems with gear hunting blah blah. It might well fit but we'd not want to use it.

If you are missing a few airbags and was thinking of going the resistor way to get the lights to go out, don't bother with that... Just yank out the airbag ecu and the car reacts as though it doesn't even have any airbags. No annoying dash light, no funny business so for those with custom wheels/gauges that require airbag delete... This is the way to go. Just did mine and works like a charm
