I have a Mark 2 panda 2009 due for MOT shortly. A while back I replaced the front struts and notice now that there is a gap between the mount at the top of the strut and the mounting hole in the engine bay. Is this normal and what do I need to do? I would expect the mount part to seat into the hole in the engine bay but there is a gap.

Do MOT testers know that?

some do not. i had an advisory for this one year. i replaced it and showed him the old one that was pretty much perfect other than slightly notchy bearings.

never had an advisory since ;)

The "lid" will have a larger gap to the body shell when the car is on it's wheels compared to when that side is jacked up. There is probably an acceptable droop value but certainly the top mount would be scrap if the lid hits the chassis when the body shell is jacked up.
