We see many Pandas that does over 100k or even 200k miles. But what about the 500?

A popular car youtuber Scotty Kilmer says that the Fiat 500 is one of the car that cannot make to 100k miles. In fact from some of his other videos on youtube, he seems to think Fiat is one of the worst cars ever made in reliability and quality. What is your own opinion?

Typical Yank rubbish youtube, someone needed to put handcuffs on the presenter, he looks like he was trying to learn how to fly his arms flapped about that much.

Mini ?

Its in the top 10 for reliability

my Pandas are at 100K miles and 200K miles. Punto was over 90K

none have had big items changed.

The YT plonker is simply trolling out the same rubbish said about Italian cars in the 1980s. Yes they rusted back then but so did everything else. The electrics were weak but Joe Lucas was not called Prince of Darkness for nothing.
Fiat were the first to build galvanised car bodies at a time when Longbridge were churning out cars with odd sized front doors (Rover 200) and fag packets painted into Metro boot floor.

BTW, the 500 is a 169 Panda with little more than a fancy body kit. Newer Pandas are closer to the 500 as they use the same wider subframes.

Scotty Kilmer says he has been working on the cars for last 51 years, so he knows what he is talking about. Plus with his 2.1 million subscribers, I have been also following his videos with respect.

I was under impression with that kind of background, what he says counts :D

Maybe not, or maybe still not sure :) Good fun to hear about opinions from different angles.

So yeah, he's judging modern cars based on what he knew about older cars from those marques.

2.1 million subscribers

PewDiePie has almost 95 million subscribers, but I don't respect a single thing that man has to say.

I have seen a few yt videos about the Mini with blown head gasket, so when I heard sk saying, oh yeah seen that :) The old minies were good, but the new ones yeah maybe bad with all these repair videos about them.

I don't even know who PewDiePie is. :D

what about the other 3 million still knocking about

Yeah, maybe they are good cars. Not sure. Actually I was a bit shocked to hear Scotty saying the Mini is bad car.

The Mini head gasket video replacement I have seen recently is this.

[ame]https://youtu.be/Rze0erudUys[/ame]

But there are many more repair videos on the Mini.

manufacture A sells 100 cars and has 1 failure
manufacture B sells 1000 cars and has 2 failures

manufacture B has twice the amount of failures

But manufacture A has a failure rate of 1%
. manufacture B has a failure rate of 5x lower

let's have a go at Mini for selling a lot of cars of which a higher proportion will be misused and abused

independent surveys of owners put Mini at number 9 for reliability

according to this logic companies like TVR, Aston Martin and the like will be the most reliable as they turn up at the garage.

I think a lot of the appearances with fiat is that they are cheep cars so are more likely to be purchased by people with not a lot of money so more likely to go with service's and repairs carried out

instead of fixing the problem properly

you install two unnecessary extra failure points that aren't even rated for the line pressure. Class

He lost me on one video where he clearly didn't know the difference between a turbo charger and super charger

This is what 50 years in the motor trade gets you.

That's probably the reason for his comments on Fiats.
As it's Fiat who own the American car brands these days, he's obviously bitter about that.

I bet he loves the Jeep Renegade and hates the 500x.

Fiat are right in the middle of the reliability tables and mini towards the top.

why not pick on manufactures toward the bottom and swaps between worse manufactures and worse models

worse by models are

Tesla S
Range Rover
Ford Edge
