Dez my 2005 Multijet went for his last MoT with me yesterday. For those who aren’t aware, in Northern Ireland we have Government MoT stations as opposed to garages who do MoT. Your car must be ready for the test. I drove in winding down the window to be asked, ‘Is that a diesel?’ I confirmed and told him the mileage. He had that look of disbelief when I said 152,007. He gets me to pull the bonnet lever to look in the engine bay and then open the boot to look at the VIN plate, saying that my car was one of the few who had the plate in there, but he added that he expected I knew all about that anyway. So he then gets me to turn on the lights for checking and then I move over to the passenger side for the brake tests. You could tell he was impressed by the wee beastie. I sat out to the side while he was put up on the ramp to check the underside, suspension, wheels, etc. When he brought him down again, he told me that the car was a quare well looked after car and he expected it could go for another 150K miles! No advisories ever! I felt proud, but also sad that as I haven’t been able to find suitable storage for him, I’m going to have to sell him now that I’ve got his replacement…
