I had to disinfect my air con system a few months ago. I had no idea the fragrance would be so stupidly sweet and lasting for months... Is there a way to get rid of this stupid fragrance? I bought a different spray, not really disinfectant, but something like air con refreshener and it helped only for three weeks or so and now the cheap sweet fragrance is back. Should I try a different disinfectant? I hate when the smell is not my taste, in car or at home...

Put air con on blowers on full and open Windows
Also change the pollen filter should go soon enough

Thank you, I will try that. Unfortunately, I changed the pollen filter before applying the disinfection.

Try it without the pollen filter in case that's been contaminated with the smell.

You mean remove the pollen filter, turn on AC full and then put the pollen filter back or buy a new pollen filter?

I mean take the filter out for a couple of days and use the car. If the level of smell improves, you'll know the filter is at least part of the problem. If not just put it back.

Ok, I'll do that.

buy a cheap household air freshner gel from Lidl/Aldi and leave it in a door pocket, keeps all bad smells at bay!
lasts about 2 months, not bad for less than a quid.

I have tried to blow full AC and open windows, removed the pollen filter, it seems to work, almost no odour left .Now I will see if it comes back if I put the pollen filter back, but probably no, the filter doesn't smell at all.
