I'm aware of the number of threads already asking about Ragazzon exhausts for 100hp's but I'm in a fairly unique situation I can't for the life of me already find info about so I thought I'd ask the question..

Bit of background..
When I got the car the garage I got it from had just put a brand new centre pipe on it, could be OEM, could be same spec but aftermarket, but it has a large silencer on it. This formed a sticking point when it came to haggling because to be fair to them, they had performed any work that needed doing to the car, so to give me money off would've been doing them out of the money they'd spent, they explained. Fair enough I thought.

Fast forward a month into ownership and I'm looking to change the exhaust on the car so it makes all these lovely pops and gurgles I've been hearing on Youtube. However, I don't want to change the centre pipe as I would essentially be shelling out more money that I already payed towards the price of the car (if that makes sense?).

My original plan was to get the standard Ragazzon backbox, however a solitary Youtube video that I found with this and the OEM centre section was pretty uninspiring by the sound of things and I've read a few comments here and there on here about how it doesn't really make much difference..

So my question is:

By anyones best guess's/experience, would the OEM centre section and group N Ragazzon backbox be a good combo for some more noise and lovely sounds but not neighbour annoying levels?

As I say I wouldn't have started a new thread if I didn't need to and having combed all the info on here and every video I can find on youtube, everyone who has put on a group N backbox seems to have changed the centre pipe too, and everyone else seems to have changed the centre pipe and fitted the standard one, which does make a nice sound.

Any help would be very very much appreciated! :)

(I have seen a video with the standard centre and a Magneti Marelli group N backbox which sounded exactly what I'd like, but I cannot for the life of me find anywhere that sells MM parts online? :bang: So Ragazzon it is!)

Most cars with centre box exhausts dont really sound much different with a plain pipe inserted. Until you drive it. The box(es) exist to temper the engine growl that happens just around each gearshift point. Believe me, it soon gets annoying.

Mine has what I believe is the standard system throughout. Its louder than the 1200 but the kids dont complain so it cant be too bad.

If you can get a fancy box at a good price then why not. But don't over pay. Also check the 500 systems as the floor pan is basically the same.

How about this https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/muffler-10414/fiat/panda/panda-169/22540-1-4?filter_generic=26

This might help though it's going back a few years. https://www.fiatforum.com/500/312701-supersprint-vs-novitec-vs-magneti-marelli-axle-back-units.html

If you want a genuine improvement get a tubular manifold with underfloor catalyst and a sports system to go with it.

Also consider a bespoke system. If you are near Stafford, Xtreme Stainless are good. Talk to Andy.

It should not have any pops and gurgles unless you go for a custom tune...they change spark timing so.. some of the fuel will burn up in the exhaust.

Who did you choose to do the job?

Longlife exhausts in Deeside, just outside of Chester, couldn’t recommend the place enough. Both guys were fantastic, very helpful and advised a backbox delete to get the results I wanted, which has turned out perfectly! Makes some lovely noises on accelerating but when I change into 6th it settles down nicely, no droning or headaches on the motorway back home! Almost fell over when they only asked for £130 at the end aswell! Said they’d had another 100hp in for the first time last week aswell so if you’re on here say hi!

If you get the chance, a little video for future reference wouldn’t go amiss [emoji6]

Me again (sorry)

When you say "backbox delete" do you mean they've run a plain pipe from the underfloor box(es) to the back of the car? It's an interesting option but makes sense as the expanding gasses don't have to cram though the baffles of a final box. The downside can be too much boom at gear shift points which presumably they have avoided.

(y)Well done.

Yep essentially! From the centre section back its just a straight pipe, no rear silencer fitted at all! It's running lovely so far, of course it's only been a couple of days and I've heard exhausts tend to take a couple of weeks to 'bed in' I guess so time will tell! I have taken a video of it warm revving when I got back from the garage, is there any way to upload videos on here?
