Hi everyone,

Newbie to the forum but had the 100HP in the family for 4 years now. The Panda is technically my wifes (i chose it for her obvs) but upon the arrival of our second child we've agreed i'll take the Panda and she can have my Passat.

Here she is - a 2007 beauty with just 60k on the clock. Mechanically she been well maintained and recently had the cambelt/waterpump changed. First things first shes had a good wash and polish!

So now that i'll be spending most of my commute in it - its time for a bit of a spruce up cosmetically - all the usual suspects but hoping for some advice on where to get things from.

The exhaust tip is pretty tarnished as you can see so was going to see what i could do to clean it, but checked underside and found a bit of rust- is this pretty cosmetic or something more terminal for the exhaust (the centre section is also flaking)?

Na, that's fine. The exhaust has an outer skin on it and they always go. Most of it has come off on my girlfriend's 100hp, but the rest is fine. It's been worse than yours for the last 3 years with no issues.

Give the back axle a good clean and soaking with Waxoyl. They all corrode but can last the life of the car if looked after properly.

Ideally jack up the back end and support on axle stands. Remove the rear dampers and drop the axle down. You can now jet wash the axle, chip off any loose paint/rust and coat it liberally with Waxoyl underseal.

Put it all back and job's a goodun.
