Hi guys,

New to the forum this week!

I have a 2007 Panda 1.3 Multijet diesel (16v) which has 155/80R13 wheels as standard.

I'm wondering if I can fit a set of 195/50R15 wheels as I've seen a nice set for a decent price.

I've checked out a few wheel fitment sites which seem to say that this would be okay but I'm just looking for some advice and guidance before I go ahead!

Thanks :)

Graham

You'll be fine on rolling diameter, but remember that offset, PCD and centre bore all need to match (or in some way be compensated for).

Have a look around the forum; there are dozens of threads on this topic from folks who've seen it all and done it all before.

I think I will do the sensible thing and try them on my car first before I think about a purchase.

I will let you know how it goes, then hopefully someone might benefit from the information!

The 100HP wheels will fit and Ive seen a 100HP with Alfa phone dial wheels presumably from a Mito. You might find some Fiat 500 wheels that fit but you will have to do the measuring.

However, wider wheels do not automatically mean better handling. The larger contact area = less contact pressure so you have to fit softer rubber that wears out more quickly.

I have an ordinary 1.2 Panda on ordinary steel wheels with Firestone tyres. In terms of grip the car really does not over stress it's tyres so "upgrading" would be all about the looks.

If you want better handling, fit a later model Fiat 500 rear axle and road springs. Use a rubber cushion on both ends of the springs or it will ride low at the back. The ride is smoother and the anti roll bar = less body roll. The wider track makes the back wheels fill the arches nicely. All done for £150 plus a few hours to swap the axles.

Sadly I doubt it would work on the 100HP as the wheels are wider.

I may well try this after if the wheels do not fit!

Okay so I got the wheels for a decent price and ordered some spacers and extender bolts to compensate for the additional offset. Fitted a wheel and tried it and the wheel got stuck after about a quarter turn. It was my assumption that the extender bolt was too long, even though I was able to tighten the wheel up properly on the outside. Is there a set length limit for bolt threads before the prevent the wheel from turning?

Anyways I measured the difference between the old and new (even though I was sure I had already measure this correctly before) and have ordered some with a shorter thread to get around the problem. The wheel sat on the car okay and as far as I could tell did not interfere with the arch on full lock, but will need to do a proper test when all 4 are on!

I've got a 2008 dynamic which I'm refurbing some 7.5 x 17 alloys from an Alfa. Going to paint them matt white with silver high lights.

UPDATE

Okay so I fitted the wheels with 16mm hubcentrics and took her out and she rides great. Can’t see any issues or hear any rubbing on the arches at all. Took her around town and over speed bumps too! The wheels are Dezent 195/50R15 with Autogrip F101 radial tyres all round.

Success!

Mine are 7 x 17 et 39 and will need spacers but will get the tyres fitted before ordering them. Will probably get a stud conversion kit to make fitting them easier.
