Panda injector voltage

Does anyone happen to know what voltage the injectors run on for the 1.3 multijet engine? My one is 188A8000. Injectors have part number 0445110083.

I know some run on alternator voltage, some on much lower voltage (3V or so), and the peizo types on several hundred. I stupidly forgot to put a voltmeter across the pins before I took the engine out, and now I won't be able to test until everything is back together again!

If anyone knows what they run on, or has the same car and could put a multimeter across the pins that would be really helpful. Thank you!

Re: Panda injector voltage

I am not 100% on this as diesels might be different.

Injectors are normally all supplied by 12 volts and controlled by the ECU. When switched on internal higher voltage is generated by the internal coil. This is dependent on the model of injector and is too quick to measure with a multi meter but can be seen on an oscilloscope.

I don't believe the Piezoelectricity type with high volts and amps are used in the Panda

Be nice if someone could confirm

Re: Panda injector voltage

Thank you, that's good to know that the piezo ones aren't used. As I understand it usually one pin is kept at alternator voltage and then the ECU connects the other pin to ground each time the injector is activated to complete the circuit. However some circuits have a resistor in series with the injector and only pass 3V or so to activate them, so if I connect a car battery it will fry the injector and be an expensive mistake!

Unfortunately my engine isn't in a position to test right now:

This is the injector in question:

Re: Panda injector voltage

In case anyone comes across this looking for an answer, the pins have alternator voltage across them. Someone at Bosch informed me that theit common rail injectors usually use a microsecond pulse of 90V or so generated by the ECU, and then use 12V to stay open. I don't have an oscilloscope to test that part.

I will test to see if they will open with 12V and update tomorrow.

Re: Panda injector voltage

The injectors don't open with 12V, so must need that 90V pulse at the start

Re: Panda injector voltage

The higher volts are created internal.

You will need to send the correct signal

One side is permanent 12 volts. The path to earth is interrupted via the ECU

From 0 to 2 on the bottom of this trace nicked from the net.
