Hello,

I drunkenly bought a Fiat panda 2010.

It is great.

I bought a cheap bluetooth obd 2 elm connector to work with various apps.. it works on every vehicle that i have tried except my Fiat .. . I think that somewhere I read that Fiat work on a different protocol to other manufacturers .. I contacted Fiat .. they said " we work on the same system as Lancia and a few other European cars but I cannot tell you if we are compatible with all cars" .

Is there a definitive answer ?

is there a workaround ?

thanks

Buy a cabled one...

Not had issues with mine...

OBD is a standard..so should cover all Euro vehicles of panda age.

What are you attempting to diagnose.

Just engine?

Hello,

Thanks for the reply.

Although I will have to diagnose at some point, due to the common steering fault . . . it is not about that . . .
I did not really want to admit this but it's for an phone app that makes v8 noises using a wireless dongle. . . My son loves it, it's a hoot . . . as I said, it works on other makes of vehicles that we have used but not the Fiat . . . and the app can only work with a wireless connection.

Now I have to look at my son's little disappointed face every morning ( he's 28 ).

thanks

oh, well

Your Panda has CAN so there is no reason whhy it should not work. Do any of the diagnostic applications e.g. Torque work? If nothing works then you have an faulty OBD port or more likely a OBD interface that has a known design fault (terminating resistor) that stops them working on some cars. if your 'phone is android try downloading the demo of AlfaOBD and trying that. For power steering diagnosis you will need a registered copy Multiecuscan http://www.multiecuscan.net on PC (laptop) and a No.1 / Green adaptor lead. A USB ELM interface is recommended over wireless examples are

Thank you Gr8rpi,

I will try the torque app on my iPhone soon . . . but it's good to know that the obd is standard. . . . is it possible to fix a terminating resistor without too much trouble ?
