Hi
I have a 2010, petrol Euro 4 , type 169 with approx 100,000 miles on the clock, and am finding 2nd and 3rd fear engagement difficult more so when cold, but also when warm.
I can check oil level and top up if necessary, but suspect this will not be the problem.
Is this likely to be just down to possibly previous abuse, just old age.
Could it be caused by warn linkages?
I have noticed that Motul do a synthetic gearbox oil which is closer to £20 per litre has anybody experience of this.
I am really just trying to improve the situation without swapping out the gearbox
Cheers
Malcolm

With the engine off

Try reaching behind the gearbox and operate the selector levers manually

If it works from here but is still stiff from the lever its probably the selector cables.

You can try cleaning the cables. The thin wire that's like a bicycles brake cable. With meths on kitchen roll works but it is a temporary fix.

Don't oil and grease the cable as I have seen suggested. As the dirt sticks to it will make it worse after a few days.
